Primary 2 Homework W.B. 30/08/21

Good morning Primary 2!

We hope you all had a wonderful weekend and are ready for a fabulous new week ahead 😊

Please find our homework for this week below. A homework letter is also attached for your reference. P2 Homework Letter 21-22

Literacy:

Spelling –

Our new sound is ‘ch’.

‘Ch’ words – chop, chip, chat, march

Common words – the, and, is, you

Please complete your spelling homework which you will find in your child’s homework jotter. Children should write out their spelling words 3 times using the LOOK, SAY, COVER, WRITE AND CHECK strategy. We would also like it if your child could try and think of at least 1 sentence with 1 of your spelling words in it and try to write it by themselves. We are also learning to grow our words. For example chop could be grown in to chopping. If your child can think of any ways that they can grow their spelling words, they can also write these down. I have attached an exemplar piece of homework to help with the layout.

Please return your child’s spelling homework on Friday.

Reading books – This week class teachers are continuing with assessing each child on their reading level. This week your child will be given a library book home to read with a parent/guardian whilst we continue with our assessments. If these could be returned on Thursday, we would be very grateful. If your child has finished their library book before then, they may bring it back and choose another.

Numeracy:

Maths homework grid – Our maths homework will be given as an assignment on teams. Within the assignment you will be able to access the grid. Please choose one activity per week to complete and if possible, please add your child’s maths work to their assignment.

Some housekeeping:

If you have not yet returned your child’s immunisation letter to your child’s class teacher, please do so as soon as possible.

Thank you for all of your continued support,

Primary 2 teaching team.

Welcome back Primary 2!

Good morning Primary 2!

Welcome back to a new year at Bishopton Primary. We hope you have had a lovely summer. Mrs Kane, Mrs Brown, Miss Frew and Miss Grant are all very excited for the year ahead. 😊

Some housekeeping:

  • Last year we had some extra routines, such as soft-start, handwashing, and no personal belongings from home. These will continue this year.

  • Primary 2 will be using the middle playground to release children at the end of the day.

  • This year the dining hall will be fully operational. This means Primary 2 will be able to enjoy their lunch in the dining hall with their peers. We are thrilled that Primary 2 will have the opportunity to socialise during lunch again, however, a quick reminder, we are a nut-free school, so please be careful when choosing snacks for interval and lunchtime for your child.

For term 1, P.E. will be outside. The children are not required to change into a P.E kit for now. We encourage children to come in their relaxed uniforms on P.E days. The following timetable has your child’s P.E. days.

Class Days
P2F Miss Frew Monday and Thursday
P2B Mrs Brown

We will be issuing a homework letter soon. This will outline the details and expectations for homework in Primary 2. For now, we have created a table for each Primary 2 class, to give you an idea of when homework will be issued and when it should be returned.

P2 w/b 14th June

Good Morning

I hope you all had a lovely weekend in the sun!

The children have been sent home with a letter regarding a virtual open afternoon. These will take place on the last week of school. This will be accessed through google meet and the link, date and time and access code is on the letter.  Please do not share this link with other classes as it is only for our class.  You can of course share with another parent/guardian within your own family.

They have also been sent home with a letter regarding lunches on the last day of school.

The children will be delighted to know that there is no homework this week. If there are any school reading books in your house, please could these be returned by Friday?  Could children also bring a spare bag to take home any of their work/belongings?

Thank you for all of your support this year. As always, any questions, please get in touch.

There are only a few simple rules –

all children must wear a helmet on a bike

bikes and scooters should be wheeled through the playground on the way in and out of school and on the ashy path.

Parents and younger siblings are welcome to join in the challenge.

Each class will get the chance to cycle and scoot with their friends in the playground during the day.

We would ask that you check over bikes and scooters to make sure they are safe to use, especially if they haven’t been used for a while.

Please don’t worry if your child is unable to bring their bike or scooter on any of their days.  Walking counts too!

Big pedal parent info

We are all looking forward to the Big Pedal.  It should be lots of fun.

Reading/listening online to books for free

Good Morning everyone,
Have a look at the list of websites that have free books to read or listen to.
Oxford Owls – Please ask your parents to sign-up for free then choose a book at your level:
Schloastic Magazines, Fiction and Non-Fiction books. Choose either Grades 1-2 or 3-4 or have a nosey around!
Audible – Listen to a variety of stories.   https://stories.audible.com/discovery
Renfrewshire Libraries – If you have a membership with the library, you can go online and  ‘borrow’ e-books and audio books
Books Trust – This website only recommends books suitable for your reading age and interests but that might help you find what you are looking for or recommend little gems! https://www.booktrust.org.uk/books-and-reading/
First News Weekly – First News is a weekly newspaper aimed at 7 to 14-year-olds.  We report the news in an age-appropriate and non-scary way that gets children engaged.
Lots of Kindle books are free if you have Amazon Prime.

P2 Home Learning Plan

Primary 2 Timetable for Remote Learning January 2021

Happy New Year everyone.

We hope you had a wonderful holiday and enjoyed time with your loved ones over the festive period. We are so sorry that we won’t be seeing your smiling faces as soon as we thought but we will be getting right back into the P2 learning programme on Monday.

Here is a little rundown of how we would like our home learning to go:

  • There will be two main posts every day:
    • Every day you should say ‘hello/good morning’ in the Check-in post before starting any work. This will let us keep a register. We will also have Daily Tasks in this post which will explain the tasks for that day.
    • We will have a Pupil of the Day post where you can leave a compliment for your friend.
  • We will have a Team meeting for each individual class every Monday and Friday at 2.30pm. If you can please join the meeting to say hello and give us your news. It will be so nice to hear everyone’s voices and hear what you have been up to. If you can’t join us, not to worry.
  • Direct Teaching Opportunities – There will be opportunities throughout the week to access direct teaching from your child’s teacher. This will take the form of a recorded voiceover, video or narrated PowerPoint. These will be available to access at any time within the assignments or Teams posts and will help to provide an explanation to your child of what they are learning. The live check-in sessions can be used for news but also for any questions or follow-ups to the direct teaching inputs.
  • Assignments – Please upload your work to the assignments so we can give you feedback directly. If you have any corrections or you would like to make improvements to your work, you can always make changes then upload again. We will set the closing date for assignments for one month and you can still hand them in after this date.
  • Non-assignment work– Some tasks will not need to be uploaded as an assignment. You can just add to them by replying with a comment to the Daily Task post or uploading a photo using the paperclip icon when you reply to the post.
  • Please keep the General Channel tidy and only reply to the posts. Please only chat with your friends and use emojis and GIFs in the Chill-Out Zone.
  • We know that every home has different arrangements about when and how you do work, so please do not worry if you can’t get everything or anything done. You can only do what you can and please email us if you have any questions or worries.
  • Technical Issues– Sometimes word documents, PowerPoints or other applications do not open on your device which is why we will upload them as two different versions. The Powerpoints might have voice recordings on them so make sure you go to ‘Slideshow’ at the top, then click on ‘From beginning’ to play the PowerPoint properly. You can get the computer to read PDFs to you. When you have opened the PDF, go to ‘View’ at the top then select ‘Read Out Loud’. Now select ‘Activate Read Out Loud’ and then either select ‘Read this page only’ or ‘Read to the end of the document’.

We are looking forward to working with you all on Teams and know you will all try your best which is all we are hoping for.

Kind regards,

P2 Class Teachers

Christmas show

In class we have been very busy getting ready for our Christmas show. ⭐ The children have been learning all their songs, dances and our Christmas poem. 🎄Last week, we sent the children their lines for the poem to their emails. You can access this using your child’s glow login and then open the ‘Mail’ tab on the Launch Pad. It would be much appreciated if the children could also practise these lines at home too. We are all very excited to showcase our efforts. 😉 Thank you for your continued help and support. 🌼
