Fun online activities :)

Good afternoon,

This term I will be encouraging the children to use numeracy, mathematics and literacy apps in class. During active learning time, I will be putting out ipads for the children to play the games on.

I will be setting work for the children on some of the apps. I will not use these apps to assess children, it is just another fun way to reinforce learning. The apps are also available on ipads, computers, tablets or phones therefore the children can play them at home too.

To begin with, it might be a good idea if you explored these games at home with your children. This will help them become familiar with the app, you are not obliged to do this. It is a suggestion to help link home learning and school learning.

You will need logins for these apps. I can reissue the Sumdog logins if you need them and will issue logins for literacy planet.

As always, thank you for your continued support.

Homework 24/01/22

Hello everyone,

For homework this week we will be learning the spelling rule “ay”

Spelling rule homework words, to be copied out into your spelling jotter and then a further two times.
1. play
2. sway
3. spray
4. stay

Common tricky words
1. write
2. go
3. see
4. number

As always can you put at least one of your spelling rule words into a sentence. The children have been working hard on their sentence structure in class:

  • Capital letter at beginning of each sentence.
  • Finger spaces between each word.
  • Writing on the line, check formation of letters.
  • Interesting openers.
  • Punctuation, full stop at the end of a sentence.
  • Using nouns and adjectives to expand our sentence.

We would love to see the children challenge themselves by growing the words. For example,

stay – staying, stayed

Scottish Poem

This week the children have had their Scottish poem to practise at home. This should be a fun, engaging activity for your child that helps build their confidence and motivation of all things Scottish. Please, feel free to contact us if you have any further questions

Reading

Your child has been issued a new book to read at home. Please return on Friday.

Many thanks for your continued support.

Scottish Poem

Good Morning,

All children have received a list of Scottish poems today.

Pupils should choose a poem to recite in front of their class towards the end of next week (wb 24.1.21). One winner will be chosen from each class. These children will then represent their class at our virtual Scottish whole school assembly.

Children should choose one poem only from the sheet. We would greatly appreciate if you could work with your child to help them learn their poem.

Thank You,

Miss Park

Maths

The maths homework grid should be attached to your homework assignment on TEAMS. Remember to only complete one activity a week, this can be repeated throughout the week as many times as you would like. The activities chosen should be different each week. This is to give the children some variety and to revise concepts taught throughout the term.

Reading

Your child has been issued a new book to read at home. If possible you could discuss the content of the book. You could use the three sharing. For example: what your child liked or disliked about the book, their connections or questions about the story. This helps support your child’s comprehension skills.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to get in touch with your child’s teacher.
