STEM in the classroom

Hello,

At the moment we are taking part in a Car Engineering Project. The children have designed their own cars. We are now at the stage of creating and decorating the cars. We are hoping that you might be able to help us with some of the resources the children have asked for.  If you have any of the items below could you please send them into school with your child:

  • cardboard kitchen roll tubes
  • spare thick cardboard e.g. Amazon boxes
  • ballons
  • Spaghetti

Thanks again for your ongoing support.

Homework w/b 17/2/20

Hello everyone,

Please find Primary 2 homework and reminders below.

At some point over the next few weeks, your child will take home an animal from the Rainforest. As part of our rainforest topic, children have been asked to write a small diary entry detailing what the animal got up to when they took them home. The animal will be taken home for one night only to allow all children to have a turn. If you do not get a chance to write in the diary, we have explained to the children that it is ok to tell us what they were up to instead.

Primary Two Homework Wk. Beg. 27th Jan

Please see homework and weekly notes below.

Primary 2 notes:

  • Maths homework grid – A reminder that one activity should be completed per week. Please support or challenge your child as you see fit.
  • Birthdays – We have been learning about the months of the year in French, and have been singing along to a French birthday song.  We have gone over when everyone’s birthday is but some children are still a little unsure.  It would be greatly appreciated if you could help your child with this at home by checking they know when their birthday is.  Many thanks.
  • Scottish Poems – Our Scottish assembly is fast approaching and we are looking forward to hearing the children recite their poem at some point this week.
  • Shoe box donations – Thank you so much for all of your kind donations of shoe boxes. We still require quite a few more per class and ask that you continue to send these in if you can.  Could you please ensure that the shoe boxes you hand in have a completely removable lid. This is to allow us to secure these to the bottom of the box, allowing  a sturdy piece of cardboard for us to put the wheel axis through.

French Birthdays

We have been learning about the months of the year.  We are trying hard to listen to the months, and jump up for our own birthday month.  Some children are a little unsure of when their birthday is, so if you could help with this at home by reinforcing when your child’s birthday is,  we would be very grateful.

We have been listening to a French Birthday song.  To listen to it at home, click  here

Many thanks,

P2E and P2S new P.E. slots

Hi everyone!

Due to some changes in the timetable our P.E. slots have changed.

We now have P.E. on a Monday and a Thursday.

A few reminders about P.E. – children already have their P.E. kits in class, however, not all children have polo shirts in their kits. On a Monday and Thursday it would be easier if your child came to school wearing a polo shirt rather than a shirt and tie.

Thank you for your continued support.

Scottish Poems – Primary 2

Good Afternoon,

Each year we celebrate Scotland and all things Scottish in school during the month of January.  Below is a list of poems children should choose from.  They should choose one they wish to learn and will recite to the rest of the class towards the end of the month.  A representative from each class is then chosen to deliver their poem at our Scots’ Assembly at the beginning of February. The children have been given a paper copy of the poems today and have been asked to circle their chosen poem by Monday 13th January.

The poems are:

Crocodile

The Bubblyjock

Doctor

Wee Rid Motor.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask.

Best Regards,

The Primary 2 Teachers.
