Primary 4 12.06.20

Happy Friday everyone, I hope you all have a lovely weekend and hopefully the sun appears again.

Catch up day 12.06.20
Time to catch up on any maths and literacy tasks from this week. Also you could be working on your personal research project or websites you like to use for maths or literacy games.

Writing
It has been so long now since we have been together as a class and I am missing you all so much. I know you must be missing each other aswell. So today I thought it would be a lovely idea if you wrote a letter to a friend in the class. In the letter it would be nice to include what you have been doing, what you miss doing and perhaps asking them how they are. Remember if you are asking a question the sentence must end with a question mark (?). If you put Dear ______ (name of your friend) I will make sure they receive your letter. Try to plan out what you are saying and write in your best handwriting so they can read it easily.
I will attach a letter Mrs Watson wrote to Mrs Arnold last week to give you some ideas. I can’t wait to read all your kind comments and I know it will put a smile on your friends face.

Maths 11.06.20
Since you have been doing such a great job this week with identifying fractions and equivalent fractions. I am going to attach 3 activities sheets, please do not feel you must complete them all one is enough. You may look at this as a chilli challenge and try to do the sheet that will challenge your ability the most. The answers are included for you to self mark afterwards.
Rectangles: Continuing on with the same theme as Monday and Tuesday lets look at reading and writing numbers going up in tens. Please read information on p14 and answer questions 1 and 2 on p15 of Leckie book 1A (I will attach pictures).

Primary 4 10.06.20

Good morning everyone, how is it Wednesday again?
Literacy 10.06.20
Today is my birthday and I was thinking it would be a nice idea for you to plan me a birthday party. First I need you to write a list of everything you will need to buy for the celebrations. Then I want you to design our classroom layout for a party (similar to your school garden design). I would like your ideas to be as imaginative as possible, what would make you the best party designer. I don’t want to be very demanding but here is some things I would like you to consider: a birthday cake, balloons, glitter tattoo area, a banner saying Happy Birthday Miss Allan and a bouncy castle. Surely that is not too much to ask for and the rest is up to you. I can’t wait to see all your ideas that will be the best birthday present I can ask for.

Maths 10.06.20
Now since you have created a list for my party supplies I would like you to try and price some of the items on the list. Try to use websites such as amazon to search and get your prices. Then I would like you to total the amount and let me know how much money will be needed.

Grammar
A good simile or metaphor is my favourite grammar technique. A simile is when you use like or as to compare something such as Miss Allan is as blind as a bat and a metaphor is comparing something saying it is something else such as Miss Allan’s classroom is a zoo (haha). Now look at the BBC bitesize website and complete the 3 activities.

Rubies: Today you are going to use the BBC bitesize website to complete the 3 activities on adding a suffix. That’s when you take your word and add a different ending to make it make sense in a sentence according to past, present or future tense.

Maths 09.06.20
Today I am going to attach a powerpoint on fractions. Please follow the information and answer the questions as you go (you need to have it opened on a full screen slideshow for everything to work).
If you would like to do a little more you can explore some of the fraction games on the topmarks website using the link below.

Rectangles: I was really impressed with your recognising numbers to 100. Lets see how well you can read and write numbers in written and numeral format today. Please read information on p10 and answer questions 1 and 2 on p11 of Leckie book 1A (I will attach pictures).
