Primary 1 – 12/06/20

Good morning Primary 1, another week has passed of home learning! I know it is getting trickier for everyone. Use today to spend some time as a family; getting outside, watching a movie. If you have any jobs to catch up on you can use today to do it or you could do some more work on your project 🙂 Remember to send me pictures of anything you have been up to so I can share them with your friends.

On Monday Miss Harper will be posting Sports Day Challenges for you as we will be missing out on that in school 🙂 I hope to see you all dressed in your sports gear raring to go 🙂

Primary 1 – 11/06/20

Good morning Primary 1, I hope you are all having a lovely week. I have loved seeing all the hard work you have been doing for our Knights and Castles project!

Literacy

I am currently trying to update our special green learning journals. Can you write a sentence to tell me what the best thing has been about Primary 1? Remember to work hard to make sure your writing is as neat as you can make it 🙂

You could also have a little read of your book again or have a go at some of your tricky words or spelling learn its 🙂

Numeracy

Today we are going to have a look at a calendar. Do you know what month it is just now?

Use the calendar to help you answer the questions…

  1. How many days are there in June?
  2. What day of the week was the 1st of June?
  3. Do you know what day and date it is today?
  4. We will finish school for Summer on the 26th, can you find out what day of the week that is?

Knights and Castles

Today I have put together a little video all about a Knights armour. Head over to our Class Dojo to watch it 🙂

Primary 1 – 10/06/20

Literacy

Today I would like you to have a go at our spelling learn its, have a go at hearing the word and spelling it on your own. If there are some which are tricky, keep these in mind to work on each day for 5 minutes or so 🙂

Today is all about symmetry, remember symmetry is where something is the same on both sides…a little bit like looking in the mirror 🙂 You can either do the art from the video to make your own symmetrical butterfly or you can play one of our games.

Knights and Castles

Did you know….

A knights shield was painted with colours and a design to show who he was, his face and whole body would be covered in armour during fights so this was the only way to recognise which family they were from.

A coat of arms was worn by a knight when jousting to show which family he was from. It was made up of different symbols important to the house.

The colours and animals used in a coat of arms were very important, I will share more next week 🙂

Primary 1 – 09.06.20

Good morning Primary 1, remember to send me over some pictures of what you got up to and I will share them with your friends 🙂

Literacy

Today I would like you to have a go at using your sounds to write a sentence on your own for the pictures below. Remember parents, don’t worry if each word isn’t correct encouraging them to give it a go using the sounds they know.

Numeracy

Can you match the clocks digital and analogue, look carefully at the position of the hour hand remember when it is half past the hand isn’t directly on the hour number 🙂

Knights and Castles

Choose a bit of your project to work on today 🙂

Primary 1 – 08.06.20

Good morning Primary 1, I hope you had another lovely weekend. This week I will hopefully be in sorting our classrooms a little bit more so my replies on Dojo may be a little bit slower than usual 🙂

Literacy

Reading on Bugclub today is as follows…

Rockets – King Pip and the Wish

Moons and Stars – Sarah’s Tap Shoes

Today I would like you to pick some tricky words from your lists in your pack, can you have a go at them all week, maybe write them down beside your bed or on your kitchen wall and have a go at recognising them every time you pass 🙂

Numeracy

Can you find 1 more and 1 less for each of the numbers? If that is easy peasy you could try finding 2 more or 2 less.

Knights and Castles

You could watch this video which is all about the ways to defend a castle.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics/z74jpv4/articles/zhrb6v4

Are there any that you spotted when you had a look around Edinburgh or Johnstone castle?

If you have started working on your own castle have you thought about any of them?

What is your favourite part of the castle?

Mrs McLauchlan really likes the arrow slits which are on the walls as they made it easy to spy on intruders and defend the castle 🙂
