Renfrewshire Road Race 2019

Well done to Team Bishopton who managed to bring home some silver wear today at the Renfrewshire Road Race. There were great personal achievements as we finished first and second in both the P6 boys and girls races as well as an amazing first place in both the team events for the P6 boys and girls.

All of our p6 and p7 teams worked extremely hard in the wet conditions and cheered each other on to reach some podium positions.

Thank you to our friends and family who encouraged us all the way. What a great achievement that we will need to celebrate once we return from the September Weekend! Well done everyone!

Maths Week Scotland – 30 September to 6th October

Dear parent/carer,

This year’s Maths Week Scotland is from Monday 30th September to Sunday 6th October. Although we are only in school Tuesday to Friday we hope you can help to support our love of maths and numeracy throughout the week. Renfrewshire’s theme is ‘real life maths’ so please talk to your child about when you use maths in your daily life. Every class will have their own fun way to celebrate and learn about maths but here are a few things to think about in advance:

  • We would appreciate if you could please provide your child with £1 to spend at the local Co-op. Your child’s teacher will be looking for adult helpers for the visits.
  • Tweet ‘I last used my maths skills to…’ using the @BishoptonPS #MWSREN #mathsweekscot
  • Take photos and tweet them to @BishoptonPS of your child using maths in their everyday lives.
  • Help you child to interview family and friends about how they use maths in the daily lives and their job. Think about number, pattern, shape, estimation, fractions, 2D and 3D shape, angles, direction, mapping, time (hours, timetables, calendars), measure, money, etc

Your child’s class will have their own maths homework task(s) that week and you will be reminded of these nearer the time, however I thought it would be good to know in advance. Thank you in advance for your co-operation and positive attitude towards maths and numeracy!

Kind regards,

Miss Karen McDowall, Principal Teacher
