Writing Competition –

We have so many talented writers in our school so why not write a story, poem, prose, article or anything you want about any British wildlife creature you fancy?  You could research your house bird (eagle, falcon, hawk or osprey) and let it inspire you! P4 pupils, you have been researching and learning about mini-beasts so use this knowledge to show off your writing skills. Or use one of the many topic tasks you have already written. Good luck!

Renfrewshire Parent Survey Response

Earlier this month, Renfrewshire Council asked parents and carers to submit their questions on schools and nurseries. Thank you to everyone who took part, there was a phenomenal response with more than 1,000 questions.

Your most-asked questions were put to Steven Quinn, Director of Children’s Services, which you can see at www.renfrewshire.gov.uk/coronavirus-schools. You can also find answers to many more questions there too.

Thank you for your continued patience and support during this difficult time. We hope to see you back in our school as soon as it is safe to do so.

Virtual Sports Day 2020 Winners- The Ospreys

A massive congratulations to the Ospreys who finished with the highest points total.

3rd – Hawks – 61930

What an amazing sports day, it was such a delight to see the community spirit and house pride in all of the pictures. I have tried to fit as many pictures and clips in as I can but may need to make an extended copy with the amount of clips! It took days to go through.

Have a look at the links below to see a short montage of the day for each house:

Good morning – 01/06

Good morning everyone. I hope you had an amazing weekend enjoying the sunshine. We are set for a sunny Monday today so remember to stay safe in the sun, wear sun cream and stay hydrated.

Today is the beginning of a new week and a new month. You are doing great with your online learning and are making us very proud with the determination and  creativity you have shown. Let’s keep this up!

Remember to check in with your teacher and do what you can with the work that is set. All we can ask is that you do your best and don’t worry if things don’t go to plan. Have a great day!

*Parental Questionnaire – Closes Wednesday 3rd June*

Dear Parent/Carer,

Usually we would share our parental questionnaires with you at parents evening in May with an online version for those who were unable to attend.

As this has not been possible this year we are asking you all to take the time to fill in this online version.

The questionnaire will remain open until Wednesday 3rd June. Your feedback is very much appreciated as it helps us to make decisions as we move towards the new session in August.

Teachers will be posting the pupil questionnaires in Teams shortly and we would very much like for you to support and encourage your children to complete this.

Thank you in anticipation for taking the time to do this.

Best Regards

Mrs McNaught

Friday 29 May 2020

Good Morning All.

Friday again and another beautiful day! I have to report that I have been helping Miss McDowall with the Talent Show auditions and I am sincerely impressed.  We have so much talent in Bishopton Primary and some that I had no idea existed… Very well done to those of you who have entered.  I really don’t know how the judges will decide.  You are all winners.

Mr McAvoy and the other teachers are busy collating the Sports Day results. As Mrs McLaren said yesterday, another impressive event. We loved seeing your pictures and videos. As well as all your hard work, the teachers had great fun seeing how well you all did.

Fingers crossed for a sunny weekend and remember to use your sun cream, wear a hat and get out and enjoy this lovely weather.

Mrs Davidson

Good morning everyone and welcome to our first ever virtual Sports Day.  Mr McAvoy has put together some fun and challenging activities, which we hope you all enjoy (parents too)! School Uniform

Following the announcement about the return to school in August I know that you will be starting to think about school uniform for the next academic year.

Given that pupils will not, in the first instance, be in school full time and that a significant portion of the time in school may be spent outside, we do not want parents spending a lot of money on uniform that pupils may have grown out of before they have had a chance to wear it.

Therefore, in consultation with the Parent Council, we would like to suggest the following.

On return to school pupils wear a red school polo shirt and navy sweatshirt, paired with suitable outdoor trousers and outdoor footwear relevant to the weather conditions on that day. We would also request that pupils come prepared for inclement weather e.g puddle suits or waterproof jackets and trousers.

Shirts, ties and other items of school uniform can be worn as we return to a more normal pattern of schooling but these will not be essential in the first instance so you may wish to hold off on buying for the time being.

Should you wish to buy badged polos shirts and sweatshirts these are available from

https://www.schoolwearmadeeasy.com/badged-school-uniform/ad/b/bishopton-primary-school

 https://myclothing.com/bishopton-primary-school/6446.school

https://www.facebook.com/dbleisureworld/

Non badged items of uniform are normally available from all high street retailers.

More information on school uniform can be found in the handbook on our school website.

https://blogs.glowscotland.org.uk/re/public/bishopton/uploads/sites/2298/2019/12/School-Handbook-Bishopton-Primary-2020-21.pdf

The exact details of the return to school are still being worked out and more information will come to you in due course.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact the Parent Council or send an email to

Good Morning 21/05/2020

Good morning everyone. This is the last day of learning before we have a long weekend break.

Everyone has been working really hard over the last few weeks and it will be nice over the next few to take part in some of our other term 4 events. Mr McAvoy, Miss Hunter and the sports day committee have been busy planning our virtual sports day and I hope you, and anyone else in your family who is available, take part.

Miss McDowall and the audition panel have been busy organising the auditions for the talent show. Please get your videos sent over to Miss McDowall as soon as you can so we can get the final cut put together to share.

We are expecting some announcements to be made today and we are all hoping that after these we will have a better idea of when we might get to see all of your smiling faces again. We are all missing you so much.

Have a lovely holiday weekend, stay safe and well and we will see you all again next week.

Sports Day 2020

Next week (Wednesday 27th May) marks our annual Sports Day. Sadly, we will not be able to take to the field but we will be hosting our first ever Virtual Sports Day.

The teachers have been busy recording the demonstration videos for Wednesday morning but we would like to ask all households to get your house colours looked out for the event.

This year, your whole household can get involved in trying to win points for your house team by completing the tasks, creating banners and making new chants. Please send us pictures or videos of these activities to become part of our house montages.

It is all about getting active, having fun and supporting your house!

Will Team Falcon, Team Hawk, Team Osprey or Team Eagle win the cup?

It is up to you!

Good Morning 20/05/2020

Good morning everyone. The weather is looking a bit brighter today so if possible try and spend some time outdoors.

Next week we will have our virtual sports day. I hope you have been practising your skills and are ready to support your house.

As your teachers are learning more and more about Teams, I can see that you are too. Your posts in the chill out zones are becoming more and more imaginative and your IT skills are getting better and better.  I am very impressed.

So as we continue to say, don’t stress over the tasks that you do not manage to complete; you are learning many other important skills while you are not in school.

Stay safe, keep well and have another great day.

Reminder: Talent Show Auditions – 1 week left!

A reminder that you have one week left to send me your talent show auditions. I am looking forward to seeing them!

Calling all dancers 🐧, singers 😮, magicians, musicians, comedians 🤣, gymnasts or pretty much anyone who has a talent who would like the chance to show it off! This year we will have to organise our talent show a little bit differently because we are all at home, however we still need to let your talent shine! ⭐

So here are the rules:

  • Film an audition video of your talent
  • You can be on your own, with a family member or if you can organise it, with friends from other families (still in Bishopton Primary)
  • The music should be appropriate (use the clean/radio edit)
  • You should be appropriately dressed (not too much flesh showing, leggings under/over leotards)
  • Your video should be no longer than 3 minutes (approximately)
  • You should email the video to Miss McDowall at gw07mcdowallkaren2@glow.sch.uk for the auditions to see if you will be put through to the final show.
  • The final will be a compilation of all of the talent made into one video and uploaded onto YouTube where only those with the link can view it.
  • You must have your audition videos to Miss McDowall by Tuesday 26th May

We are looking forward to seeing all of the talent you have to offer!
