Mystical Dancing

Last week we began a dance topic based around mysteries and magic! We learned about some myths and legends within Europe for our topic and applied this theme to our dancing! We started by thinking about some words that relate to magic and spelling these words using shapes with our bodies. We also practised some mirroring using shapes that indicated we were doing something magical, such as casting a spell or riding a broom! The classroom became Hogwarts temporarily! Next, we imagined creating secret passageways and used our bodies to both create the passageways and to go through them using different movements! There were lots of great ideas and imagination! Well done P6G!

Engineering 3/3/17

Today we were able to put wheels onto our cars! This involved sawing round sections of wood and attaching them to our bases. We were also able to create working designs of our cars which our engineer, Matthew , may turn into 3D designs on a computer! Enjoy our pictures!

Good afternoon everyone! I hope you have been having a lovely weekend after another very busy week. Here is your homework for this week. Please remember to read our reminders.

Spelling:  Units 29 and 36 should be completed for Friday. As always, each word should be written out three times and an uplevelled sentence should be written for each spelling rule word. Please remember to consider your VCOP in each sentence. This week we will be focusing on using more ambitious connectives in each sentence. This does not mean you forget about uplevelling your openers and vocabulary. We are trying to use all of these together to make your sentences wonderful.

Reading:  You have a new core reader to complete at home. Please complete the book for Thursday 9nd March. There will be no written homework for this as all tasks will be completed in class. As always, if there is any vocabulary you are unsure of, please take a note of it and we will discuss it in class on Thursday.

Personal Reading Challenge: We now have 4 weeks of reading left. You have set yourself a personal target based on the number of books read last term and the aim is to reach it (or beat it!) before the end of term. Please remember to bring your book to school as this will allow you to read it during our ERIC sessions.

Please remember to record the books in your reading passport as you finish them. The passport is kept in class. I will be checking this week to see that your passports are being kept up to date. Remember this is your record of the number of books you have read so far this term.

Maths: Please complete the word problems for your group by Friday. As always, all workings should be shown and a sentence answer should be given for each question. Please use the links below to access your questions.

Please keep up the high standard of work.

P5S – World Book Day

Image result for books clipart

Today we celebrated World Book Day in school. PJs and onsies were worn alongside book character costumes. Thank you to everyone who paid a donation to do so. Another thank you to those of you who took part in the readathon to raise money for new literacy resources for our school. You individuals raised a whopping £140.00 sponsor money. Added to the £19.50 donations we received, our class raised £161.50 towards the amazing total overall ……. over £2000.00.

In class we had lots of activities going on that were all linked to reading. We read some more of our class novel, One Dog and his Boy. We had a Read and Munch with P2/1 which was so successful we are planning more. We had lots of ERIC time. Our Bounce Back session today had you all comfy on the floor where I think some of you struggled to stay awake! We also played Conscious Alley for the first time which was linked to our class novel. Our day ended with a whole school assembly dedicated to reading. One of our class was even the lucky winner of the best costume for P4-5 and received a token to spend on ……. books!

The enthusiasm for reading has increased greatly over the last few months and I really hope it continues. Books are wonderful and we can learn so much from them.

Here are some photographs from our very busy day. Enjoy!

World Book Day

Primary 2H had a great day reading and also sharing books with their Primary one buddies. We really enjoyed hearing the teachers and children who read to us at assembly today. All of the costumes were great and well done to everyone for raising so much money, between their donations and sponsorship money.

World Book Day

Well done to everyone who made our World Book Day such good fun.  The costumes were great and I hope you enjoyed wearing your pyjamas. Thank you to our visitors who came to read to the class.  Thank you for your donations and sponsor money.  Our class raised more than £200 and the whole school raised more than £2000 which will be spent on literacy resources.

As well as our visitors, we made the characters and setting for the Three Little Pigs.  We visited our reading  buddies in Primary 3H to share our favourite books.
