Seesaw – Home Learning Codes

It has been lovely to see so many of our families access Seesaw this week using the Family Access Code. We are delighted to see some of the comments and “likes” come through on the work the pupils have been doing in class.

As with every new system there are some teething issues and rest assured, we have been working away at fixing these in the background.

Today, Home Learning Codes have been been sent home for each child. This is so your child can access their learning journal and upload work at home (for example some teachers may ask for homework to be uploaded to Seesaw instead of having jotters returned). If your child has their own device they should use this code to login to their learning journal.

The Family Access code is for our families to view the learning journals of their child/children and should be set up using your own name, not the name of your child. If you have set this up using your child’s name, please don’t worry. You can send me a message on Seesaw and I can fix it for you (I have access to all of the classes so just drop me a line and I’ll have a look).

Please see our Seesaw Policy below for more information on using Seesaw and our expectations when using this new platform.

Bishopton-Seesaw-Policy-and-Guidance

Thank you for your support with this, we look forward to sharing more learning with you all on Seesaw!

Miss Burnett

Welcome to Seesaw!

All of the staff at Bishopton Primary are excited to get started using Seesaw! During our in-service day on Monday we learned lots about how to use Seesaw to share our learning in class and to post activities. Over the next couple of weeks we hope to give the children opportunities to become familiar with using Seesaw and sharing their work with you.

Please have a look in schoolbags this week for a unique family login letter for your child. Once you have downloaded the app follow the instructions on this letter to gain access to the learning journal (there are instructions on the letter for what to do if you have more than one child using Seesaw).

If you are unable to download the app onto a device, you can still access Seesaw using a web browser. There is also a link to Seesaw at the top of the blog (beside the Glow button). Please note, notifications on new posts/messages will not be received when using the web browser version of Seesaw.

Please bear with us while we get used to using this new form of communication. There are some help videos posted here to introduce you to Seesaw.

With thanks,

Miss Burnett and the Bishopton Primary Team

Online Changes

Under Construction Sign Clip Art

As we will be moving to Seesaw at the start of the next school session, here are the changes that will be happening online over the next few weeks.

Class Blogs – as photos and posts regarding your child’s learning in class will be happening via Seesaw, the class blogs will be archived. Our main school blog will still be there but will be “static” so not updated regularly. There will be a class page that will show the topics being covered each term. All communication from the school will come via Seesaw.

Teams – as we will have the ability to add activities, homework and messages via Seesaw, the class Teams will also be archived and Teams no longer used.

EMail Subscriptions – all email subscriptions for the blogs will be stopped as you will be notified via Seesaw of any messages/updates on the app.

I will create a page on our main school blog to share videos about how to use Seesaw.

We are all really looking forward to using Seesaw to share the wonderful things we do at Bishopton Primary!

Introducing Seesaw!

Remote Learning with Seesaw - Learning at Home Tips for Families - Salem-Keizer School District 24J

Following feedback from our parental questionnaires, we plan to streamline our various forms of communication using SeesawThank you for completing the Seesaw consent forms for your children, this will allow the classes to be set up for the 2022-2023 school session.

As we will be moving to this new platform, I thought it would be useful for you to know that the following changes will be happening over the summer before the start of the new school year.

Class Blogs – as photos and posts regarding your child’s learning in class will be happening via Seesaw, the class blogs will be archived. Our main school blog will still be there but will be “static” so not updated regularly. There will be a class page that will show the topics being covered each term. IMPORTANT: Seesaw Consent Forms

Year 1 - Super Seesaw learning | Trawden Forest Primary School

We are very excited to start using Seesaw as our main channel for communication and sharing learning. To help us get Seesaw set up it would really help if all consent forms could be sent in as soon as possible.

We still have quite a few forms outstanding and are unable to get everything set up until all forms are returned. If you can’t find the form, please contact the office so we can issue a new one. 👍

Thank you for your help with this!

Cyber Scotland Week

@CyberScotlandWk #CSW2022
CyberScotland Week
The theme for Cyber Scotland Week 2022 is “keeping everyone cyber aware and resilient”.  While most social media apps are age-rated as 13+, we are aware that some children are using them regularly. Below you can find some helpful tips when changing settings to keep your children safe online.

EMail Subscription Service!

Our email subscription service is now ready for you to sign up! This will send a daily email of any updates on our school blogs. Please see the image below to see where to find the sign up form.

A couple of things to be aware of:

  • Please pick Whole School News and any additional stages you would like to receive email updates from (eg. select Whole School News, Primary 3 and Primary 6 if you have children in P3 and P6).
  • You will only receive an email if there has been any updates to the blog.
  • Emails will be delivered in the evening, please check your junk mail and mark the sender as safe if emails end up in there.
  • The emails will come from an email address that is not monitored by the school. Please do not reply to these emails or use it for any communication as they will not be received. Please use bishoptonenquiries@renfrewshire.gov.uk
  • If you had previously subscribed to Whole School News using the old system, your email may already be registered with MailChimp and you will need to complete a verification process via your email to add additional classes.

As with any new system, there will probably be some teething issues so bear with us while we sort them out. All blog updates are automatically populated to our school Twitter and Facebook feeds that can be found here….

Updates to Teams

Over the next couple of weeks, I will be making changes to the Bishopton class Teams. This will involve moving children into their new Teams class so it may appear different when they next login. The class teachers will be added to the Teams at the start of the new term.

With thanks,

Miss Burnett

Website Changes and EMail Updates

Please be aware that the school website is currently under construction while getting ready for the new school year.

Over the next few days, all email subscriptions for class blogs and the main school blog will be stopped as the service we use for this is closing down. We will let you know when all changes have been made and a new email subscription has been set up.

Please be aware that this means you should check the blog directly for school updates until a new email subscription service has been set up.

With thanks!

Word and PowerPoint Download via Glow

Well done to everyone on doing such a great job with their online learning! We seem to be having less technical issues as the days go on which makes things a lot easier.

One thing some of you may not be aware of is that all Glow users can download Microsoft Office 365 onto their devices (Word, PowerPoint, Excel etc.). This should really help if you are having problems with viewing, or editing, some of the resources that are being added to assignments.

Here are some pointers on how to download Office 365:

Once your child has logged into Glow and are in the Launchpad area, if they click on the wee house, this will take them to the Bishopton Primary School apps area.

Look for this tile and it will guide you through downloading Office365 onto your device.

Office is also available as an app on tablets/iPads etc. Look for this icon in your app store. As with Teams, the login details are the full Glow email address (eg. gw10surnamefirstname@glow.sch.uk and the password used to access Glow).

Microsoft Office - Wikipedia

Hopefully this will help a little!

Glow Password Reset

Hello there,

As you will be aware we will return to online learning for the week beginning 11th January. If your child has forgotten their password to get into Glow and Teams, please complete the form below. It will be reset to a default password of bishopton123. When your child logs in to Glow for the first time with this password they will be prompted to change their password. We have found that a 3 word phrase (with spaces) works well and helps them to remember it. For example big pink pig.

There are various help pages and videos for Glow and Teams here. Help on changing passwords can be found in the document below.

Take care, stay safe, and have a wonderful Christmas!

To help ease congestion at the end of the day, we would be grateful if you could complete the form below for each child in your household. This will allow the class teacher to know the hometime arrangements and ensure they are heading home safely and as arranged.

The data in this form will only be used for the purposes above and managed in line with Renfrewshire Council’s privacy policy.

Thank you for your help with this.

Subscribe for Updates!

11949839291611221936the_electronic_mail_raph_01-svg-medYou can now subscribe for a daily email update for blog posts linked to your child’s class. Visit the class information page for the relevant class and then click on the subscribe links. You will be asked to enter your email address. You will then be sent a verification email to confirm your email address. If you do not respond to this you will not be successfully subscribed. Please check your junk mail folder in case the verification email has been sent there if you cannot locate it.

If you want to receive updates from the main school blog and your child’s class blog, you will need to subscribe for the class and the main school blog updates and will receive two emails. The window for these emails arriving should be between 5 and 7pm each night with any updates from that day being sent through to your email. Please be aware that any posts added to the blog after 5pm that day will be in the update email the following day.

Example: if you have a child in P4M and P7H you should subscribe to both classes and will receive an email for each. If you also want to receive any posts on the main school blog (general posts that apply to the whole school), please subscribe to that also.

Please note, the email updates will come from a Google email address, however, this is not monitored by the school and any enquiries should come via the contact details provided here.

To ensure we are reaching as many people as possible we have set up a Facebook page which will also be updated from the school blog. Search for Bishopton Primary School Renfrewshire or click here and like and follow our page. Please note, as with all our social media channels, this will not be monitored outwith school hours and should not be used as a means of contacting the school. If you wish to contact us please do so by contacting the school office.

With thanks!
