Rights Respecting Schools

Our Rights Respecting Schools Journey

We began our Rights Respecting Schools journey in April 2019.

In June 2019 we were awarded our Bronze: Rights Committed Award

In August 2019, we started to work towards achieving our Silver Award by working through our School RRS Action Plan. This includes:

-All within our school community learning about the articles which make up the UN Rights of the Child.

-All within our school community learning why it is important that we have these rights in place and why sometimes others do not have their rights fulfilled.

In School we have been learning:

-About Children’s Rights

-Through Rights

-To be Ambassadors for the Rights of Others

We have had a lots of discussion around the Right children have o an Education and the ways that their right to an Education can be honoured. We discussed what makes a positive school environments that promotes and honours this rights and anything which may prevent them from accessing their right to an Education.

From this we created a vision of what we would like our School to ‘look’ and ‘sound’ like as a Rights Respecting School and came up with a poster showing things which make Aberuthven PS a Rights Respecting School.

We also worked in small groups to created an Aberuthven PS song which encompasses both Rights Respecting Schools and our Circle of Success to celebrate all of the wonderful things about our School. Please have a listen to  each of the 3 songs below.
