Context – Vision – Values – Aims – Curriculum Rationale

The context of the school:

Firth Primary School is in an outstanding location on the shoreline and next to the brig near the village of Finstown.  In the playground it is common to be metres away from seals and numerous sea birds and to be able to observe the changing tides rushing through to the Ouse.  Approximately 111 pupils make up the primary and nursery context with 4 multi-composite classes in the primary and up to 30 children in the nursery.  The Head Teacher is linked with Evie Community School and this creates many opportunities for shared experiences.  Firth Primary children generally go to Stromness Academy once they have moved on to secondary and we work closely with them to provide a seamless transition.  We have a super school community which we appreciate for all the supportive partnerships which lead to so many great experiences for our children.
