At todays assembly we explored article 28 and 29. We explored a child’s right to education and how education must help develop an individual’s own personality and talents.

Article 28 – Right to education
Every child has the right to an education. Primary education must be free and different forms of secondary education must be available to every child.
Article 29 – Goals of Education
Education must develop every child’s personality, talents and abilities to the full.
Today’s Assembly is all about article 13. A child’s right to express themselves and give their opinion. We discussed the different ways in which we might express ourselves.
Article 13 – Freedom of expression.
At this weeks assembly we are learning about Pupil Voice and how important it is to have our opinions heard. Article 12 outlines the importance of respecting children’s views and article 13 tells us about the importance of allowing children to express themselves freely.
We also gave our opinion on what type of Outdoor Learning we would like to see at Woodlands Primary School.

At this weeks assembly we are learning who’s job it is to make sure children know about their rights. Governments, schools and other organisations should be informing children of their rights and giving them an opportunity to explore their rights in full.

Article 1 Definition of a child – Everyone under the age of 18 has all the rights in the Convention
Article 42 Everyone must know children’s rights – Governments must actively work to make sure children and adults know about the Convention
Todays assembly is all about article 15. Article 15 is about groups and children’s right to be members of groups.
Every child has the right to meet with other children and to join groups and organisations, as long as this does not stop other people from enjoying their rights.
