Fairtrade Chocolate Assembly

Today Mr Green taught the children about Fairtrade chocolate. We learned where chocolate is produced, what it looks like and how it becomes the chocolate we know and love! We also learned that Fairtrade not only helps farmers but the communities where they live and helps establish women as workers in countries where they have limited opportunity.

Woodlands Got Talent 2019

2019’s Woodlands Got Talent celebration was the best yet. High quality auditions resulted in a very exciting show. 12 acts representing 3 from each school house were joined by 3 wildcard acts! We also for the first time ever had a judging panel made up from only pupils! The acts were entertaining, funny, courageous and showcased the amazing talent we have as a school.

Mrs McLaughlin and Fiona from the kitchen absolutely loved the show!

The judges were fair and encouraging showing fantastic respect when giving their comments to each act. We had singers, dancers and even some magic!

After much deliberation and discussion, with counting and recounting scores the judges were able to pick the top 3 acts.

We used our house campfires at assembly so that children could exercise their pupil voice on the redevelopment of Marmian Road play park. Children considered what would be good for children aged up to 5, from age 5 – 12 and what resources/equipment would be good for children who need a bit more support.

Snowball madness

Primary 1-3 enjoyed their snowball madness after school session. I think they enjoyed aiming at the teachers a bit too much!

Primary 4-5 then had their turn on Wednesday. Some fantastic throwing arms in this group!

Finally primary 6 and 7 engaged in the snowball madness. Plenty of fun and games. Especially the slow motion, left arms only and pupils vs teacher rounds!!
