šŸšØĀ Alert, bring a full change of clothes tomorrow. All are chairs a gone, for the Christmas fair.

This morning we were unscrambleing letters to make words.We started this yesterday and today, we were trying to beat are score from yesterday.

Next we were finishing are csi or making a true or false questions. We were making them with our reading books.

Now we are going to read Percy Jacksonā€™s and the lighting theif.

Also we have a new writing book for are ideas. We are stealing ideas and then writing it into our jotter.We are learning how to improve our writing.

Now we are going to get our books and Ā Kimberly is reading to the class then coral and we are writing words down if it is a wow word.Here are some examples.

Then we all chose something to take ideas form and here are some examples.

Me ,Leah and carri are making a power point for the assembly about

 

kilbowie . After that we are going to do maths, some people have made games on the computers called (do you want to be a millionaire)now we are going tolisten to other peopleā€™s ideas.Ā 

These people have worked really hard to make these games. After that we are going to play a maths game called win or lose.

Now, we are starting are new maths topic, and it is add and subtract. We watched a little clip about someone doing millionair. We saved it for the end.

After lunch we did the daily mile. We are overlapping our time to 20 mins. We are going to win, but not with the lazy people.

At the end of the day, we had assembly and some p7s came to the front, to talk about kilbiow, Ā and what it is like. Mr green put on all the pictures that we took. It was so much fun.

Some people got toke out, to make our delicious treat, for everybody for the Christmas fair.

 

Literacy

In the morning we were doing work sheets that made us colour in a picture at the bottom and we hade to colour the right word in and we had to figure out what the correct word is – past tense verbs

We also read our books for twenty minutes and then we got a partner and we were talking about our books to someone that has a different. This isnā€™t to help us think more clearly

 

MATHS

In maths this is the last day of Ā multiplying and dividing by 10 100 and 1000.

We are also making posters about multiplying and dividing by 10 100 and 1000 here are some examples:

ASSEMBLY

In assembly we are learning about international space stations Ā because itā€™s the birthday of international space station the Russian space station and we are learning about people eating insects 2 billion people in the world eat insects like Ā šŸœ Ā and šŸ› all the animals we eat makes damage to our environment . People are making insect burgers and different types of food to make insects into meals that people actually might like.

Meeting on Monday 18th January 2016

Today we had a meeting and discussed the following:

Fairtrade Fortnight: The committee would like to repeat last years Fairtrade tuckshop and try to beat last year’s record profit of Ā£97. The committee would also like to run a series of assemblies in the run up to and during this fortnight to promote Fairtrade within the school.

Fairtrade Breakfasts: As part of the Fairtrade fortnight focus on breakfasts the committee would like to run a stall at the Parent’s Meetings in March to promote Fairtrade. They plan to give away homemade Fairtrade pancakes covered in FairtradeĀ condimentsĀ e.g. jams and spreads for a small donation to the Fairtrade Foundation. The committee is very excited about this event.

Fairtrade baking recipes: The committee would like to extend this and encourage people to send in their recipes that we could alter to make them Fairtrade. nRemember one change to Fairtrade can make a huge difference!

Next Meeting Thursday 11th February at 10am

For the next meeting children:

  1. Will send in their favourite recipes which we will amend to be Fairtrade. We will then promote these in school, on twitter and through the blog.
  2. Decide which Fairtrade chocolates they would like to sell at the Fairtrade tuck shop.

 

 

Meeting On Tuesday 15th December 2015

We are encouraging people to try and change at least 1 ingredient in their baking recipes to Fairtrade and have included some recipe ideas below.

Why not try these recipes using as many Fairtrade ingredients as possible:

Santa’s Cookies (from atypicalenglishhome.com)

Ingredients

  • 200g chocolate
  • 165g self-raising flour
  • 110g soft brown sugar
  • 125g butter
  • 1tbsp golden syrup
  • 1tsp vanilla essence

Method

  1. Chop the chocolate into chunks and add to a big bowl.
  2. Put the flour and sugar into the bowl and thoroughly combine the mix with butter and golden syrup.
  3. Once you are happy with your dough, roll it out until it is about 0.5cm thick and used festive cutters to cut out shapes.
  4. The cookies then need to be baked in a preheated oven at 180C for 10 to 14 minutes.

Ā Banana Loaf (from BBC Good Food)

Ingredients

  • 140g butter, softened, plus extra for the tin
  • 140g caster sugar
  • 2 large egg, beaten
  • 140g self-raising flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 2 very ripe banana, mashed

Method

  1. Heat oven to 180C/160C fan/gas 4.
  2. Butter a 2lb loaf tin and line the base and sides with baking parchment.
  3. Cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Slowly add the eggs with a little flour.
  5. Fold in the remaining flour, baking powder and bananas.
  6. Pour into the tin and bake for about 30 mins until a skewer comes out clean.
  7. Cool in the tin for 10 mins, then remove to a wire rack.

Meeting on Tuesday 17th November 2015

The Fairtrade Council met today to update the members on our progress so far and our plans for the future. Ā Here is what we spoke about:

1. Our Fairtrade assembly will be on the journey of the Cocoa bean and will take place in the next few weeks. Ā Some children volunteered to lead the assembly and Mr McCrorie will work with them over the next few weeks.

2. Bring in recipes from home for the Fairtrade Committee to make at our next meeting on Tuesday 15th December. We will then try these out on pupils and see what is popular.

3. Mr McCrorie will organise volunteers for stall runners for the Fairtrade stall at the Christmas Fayre. This stall will sell Christmas cards.

4. Investigate making the ‘cookie jars’ that P3/4 and P6/7 are making for the Christmas Fayre with Fairtrade products to help promote Fairtrade within the community.

Our next meeting will be on Tuesday 15th December at 10am. Please feel free to comment on this post in the meantime if you have any ideas or suggestions.

 

Our Meeting 27.10.15

The Fairtrade Council met today to discuss what we are going to do to promote Fairtrade within our school and local community. As a council we have decided:

  1. To prepare an assembly to promote Fairtrade within our school
  2. To bring Mr McCrorie any recipes that we could make as a council with Fairtrade products.
  3. Create one or some of these recipes and give out tasters.
  4. Post pictures of our creation and recipes on our blog and ask the school community to try the recipes and post pictures and comments on the recipe.
  5. Investigate making a Fairtrade recipe book for sale with all profits going towards Fairtrade.

Our next meeting will be on Tuesday 17th November at 11.30am

Welcome to the Fairtrade CouncilĀ Blog! We had our first meeting last week and we are all really excited to be a part of this year’s Fairtrade Council.

Instead of minutes on the website we will blog what we have been working on here. If boys and girls have any ideas or ways to improve our school’s work with Fairtrade they can comment on one of the posts within this blog.
