Phonological Centre

The children who attend the Phonological Centre are taught as part of a mainstream class and are included in all class activities. They have intensive input from the centre speech and language therapist (SLT) both individually and in small groups.

Some children who have a phonological disorder experience difficulties with learning to read and write. These children are given additional support by the centre teacher who works collaboratively with the SLT and the class teacher. Each pupil has GIRFMe (Getting It Right For Me) Plan which individualises their specific needs and supports to be put in place.
