On Thursday 1st November, the whole school will be attending 9:45am mass in St. James The Greater Church. Please ensure the children have a coat/jacket on as we walk to church.
We have children in our school and nursery who have severe nut and food allergies. Any contact at all with nuts or certain pulses could cause a life threatening allergic reaction, that requires emergency medical treatment. We must provide them with a safe environment at all times. The school must be a nut free environment. This includes:
All nuts
Pulses such as lentils (baked beans are fine)
Chick peas – including hummus
Sesame seeds
This means that all food and other products brought into and used in the school or nursery must not contain nuts. In order to avoid any risk to our children, all children and adults entering the building must carefully note the following:
Any product containing nuts must not be brought into the school or nursery building i.e. ‘NUTS’ is listed in the ingredients on the package.
Children should not bring a snack, which contains nuts.
Children who have packed lunches cannot have nut products in their lunch boxes. This includes chocolate spread (such as Nutella), peanut butter or pesto.
If you have eaten nut products at home e.g. peanut butter, crunchy nut cornflakes, Nutella – you must thoroughly wash your hands and face to remove any trace of nuts before entering the school.
We have organised a new online booking system for our parents’ evenings. This will allow parents to log on and book their own appointment. Parents Evening will take place on Thursday 11th March 2018.
PLEASE NOTE: You need to type this address into your website browser’s ‘address bar’ or copy and paste the above address into your browser. Do not try to ‘Google’ this website address or click on the link above. This is a common mistake on phones and tablets especially.
Login to see which appointments are available and select one that is convenient for you. If you have more than one child in the school we cannot stress enough that you go on swiftly to assure you get appointment slots together. Office staff can no longer make appointments. There will only be one appointment per child available.
You will need:
Your title and surname (these must match those we have on record for you)
Your child’s first name, surname and date of birth
The system will be available to take bookings from 1st October at 8pm and will be open to take your bookings until 9th October at 8pm.
Once you have logged in, we suggest you use the ‘Automated Booking Wizard’ to make your appointments. You will be shown your child/children and their teachers, and asked to enter your availability. Our wizard will use this information to calculate the best order for your appointments, allowing you to navigate the teachers in the quickest and most efficient manner.
Troubleshooting Tips – please read before booking!
To login you need to enter the details we have on record for you and your child. If you have recently changed your title or surname, for example, and not informed us, we will be expecting you to login with the details we have on record
The email address you enter is only used to receive a confirmation of your appointment. If the system gives you an error when you login, it will not be the email address that is the problem
If you have several children to make bookings for, and decide not to use the Booking Wizard, but instead make appointments individually, use the ‘Change Child’ button on the blue bar (above the school’s name) in the very top left corner of the Parent’s Booking Page to swap between your children
On Tuesday 20th November 2018 the Primary 1 classes will visit Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum to take part in an Explore and Create Outdoors workshop in Kelvingrove Park. Using natural materials, and working in teams, the Primary 1 children will be constructing and creating whilst learning more about the wildlife in the park. There will also be time to visit the Museum.
The bus will leave school at 9:15am and return to school for 2:45pm.
A Snack to Go lunch will be provided for all pupils. If you prefer children can bring their own packed lunch. The children should bring their snack/packed lunch in a plastic bag, with their name written on the bag. They will not need to bring their school bag on this day.
As the workshop is an outdoor activity, children must be dressed for the weather – waterproof jacket, waterproof trousers (if you have them), welly boots and perhaps a hat and gloves depending on the temperature. School uniform should be worn under outdoor clothing.
The school will cover the cost of the bus and we are asking for £2 per child, to cover the cost of the workshop. Please send this in before the trip.
Please see the following app which is free to download (for a week) and is suitable for children in the first stages of learning to read, or for older children who need a bit more practice.
