Please find below some suggested spelling activities for pupils in P7 (Rooms 16, 17 and 18).

P7 Learning Grid
Budget Planning – Maths

 

You are having a birthday party and have decided to invite 20 people.  Your budget is £350 and you must stay within it. You are providing lunch and party bags. Research prices and write out your plan.

Money Match – Maths

 

Imagine you are moving to a new house.  Make a list of 10 items you might need to buy e.g. television, kitchen table.  Estimate how much you think you will need to spend. Now use the internet to research the prices and find the total cost.

Bank Teller for the Day – Maths

 

Can you make up a bank statement? Make sure you have a credit and debit column.

Use a dictionary or online dictionary to find five words. Write them down with their definition. Create a paragraph containing them. Perhaps choose some of the prefix/suffix/root words you have been learning Quiz Master – Maths

 

Think of possible questions for a quiz based on what you have learned about money.  You could test it out on a family member!

Money Game – Maths

 

Design a game based upon money.  Be as inventive as you like!

Write a diary entry or start keeping a journal. Relax with a book. Use the book to

Write a short summary

Write a book review

Create an alternative ending

Create a new front cover

Choose a topic that interests you. Write ten interesting facts and share this with a friend.
Think of a problem in the world. Create an invention that will solve it. Draw this invention and explain how it will work. Look out of your window or choose an image you have found online or in a book. Can you use your drawing and sketching skills? Feel free to share this with your teacher via e-mail. Choose a spelling activity from the spelling grid.

Diacritical Marking

 

Write and diacritically mark your words.

Noughts and Crosses

 

Play this with a partner.  Take turns to spell each word correctly.  If a player spells a word incorrectly they miss a turn.

Adding My Words

 

Each letter has a value.

*Consonants are worth 7.5

*Vowels are worth 4.5

(if you want more of a challenge you could change the value)

Write your words and add them up!

Celebrity/Superhero Letter

 

Your job is to write a creative letter to your favourite celebrity or superhero.  In your letter, you must use each of your spelling words and underline them as you use them.

Left-hand Right-hand

 

Half your sheet of paper.  On the left hand side write your spelling words with your left hand.  Then do the same with your right hand on the right hand side.

 

Acrostic Poem

 

Choose one of your words to write an acrostic poem for that word.  Highlight the letter of the words to make them stand out.

Hangman

 

With a partner, use this week’s words to play hangman.

Word Search

 

Make a word search with your words and see if someone can find them.

Code Words

 

Come up with a code for each letter of the alphabet.  Write down your words in code and get to someone to crack it.

Timer

 

Set a timer and see how quickly you can spell your words correctly.

Crossword

 

Use the definition of your words to create a crossword.  You could get someone to try it.
