Learning to Play : Playing to Learn

The ‘Learning to Play : Playing to Learn’ programme is our own play-based learning programme, developed within St. Timothy’s. It is based on the growing research around play and child development. It offers the children regular opportunities to engage in a whole week of active play and learning. This will occur every 3/4 weeks, during revision weeks and the Primary 1 classrooms will be transformed into play zones to encourage creativity, imagination and exploration. Many of the resources for the programme have been provided by St. Timothy’s PTA.

The Play zones:

Room 1 – free flow play

Room 2 – numeracy and maths play

Room 3 – literacy play

Each day the children will visit all 3 playrooms with their class teacher and experience play activities to consolidate and develop their own learning.

This is an exciting new development so watch this space and look out for photos on Twitter.
