Primary 6 and Primary 1 Buddies

The primary 1 children are settling into school well.

On Friday they enjoyed Golden Time with their buddies. The P1 children choose interesting books for their buddies to read to them. P6 were happy to read to them and enjoyed playing with the construction and games in p1 where they had lots of fun.

Well done primary 6, you are showing a responsible attitude when working alongside your buddies. 🙂

P6 Science

Primary 6 really enjoyed working co-operatively this afternoon. They looked at vertebrates, invertebrates, flowering and non-flowering plants. They discussed classification with their partners and decided where to place each picture given. They enjoyed cutting and pasting animals and plants into the correct category and made a classification key to display their results.

The children are looking forward to learning more throughout their topic. During term one their topic will be ‘Classification of Living Things.’

Meet The Teacher

A big THANK YOU to everyone who came along to “Meet The Teacher” last week. The event was well attended.

Below is a summary of your comments from completed evaluations:

Everyone found the session useful, relaxing, helpful to see materials used in class and good to meet the teacher.

Parental engagement is important – how could we develop this further?

Responses are listed below:

  • More sessions like this, perhaps later in the day.
  • Happy with everything.
  • Honestly feel that school engages with parents extremely well. I cannot think of much more you can do to improve. Many thanks for all you do.
  • Have it a few times.
  • Divide the class into smaller groups to allow more time with the teacher.

Yours views will be taken into consideration when planning future events.

Primary 5 – Swimming Programme

Primary 5 children will participate in the swimming programme at Sir Matt Busby Centre in Bellshill on Thursday mornings from Thursday 7th November until Thursday 30th November.

At the Centre the children will have a 45 minute swimming session and a PE lesson.

Children should wear school uniform and bring sports clothes, appropriate swim wear and a towel. A bag for wet clothing would also be helpful.

This is a fabulous opportunity for children to learn and to further develop physical education skills. If you have not already completed permission form, please do so now – without these children will not be allowed to leave the school building.

If you require any further information please do not hesitate to contact me at school.
