October Rosary

This week before we prayed the rosary the children were still, relaxed and sat silently before praying for world peace.

The Catenian Rosary Group who supplied the rosaries free of charge aim is to have “One Million Children Praying the Rosary” .

St. Andrew’s Hospice Capital Appeal

Karen M’Fadyen from St. Andrew’s Hospice Capital Appeal Fund visited the school this morning to collect money raised during the September “Bucket Appeal”.  The school raised £370.44 (£240 from P5’s Victorian Tea Party).

Karen thanked the children and asked them to thank their parents for supporting the hospice. Karen particularly enjoyed her visit this morning – she is a former pupil and remembered wearing her school tie with pride.

Well done for raising this amount and a huge thank you to the children and the community of New Stevenston for supporting this worthwhile cause.

Literacy

Today in literacy we were writing storyboards about our book. We were learning to describe the events of our book in our own words then draw pictures to match!

Author Visit

Primaries 6 and 7 enjoyed a visit from the author of Boyband of the Apocalypse, Tom Nicoll.  He spoke about his new book, he read some of it to the children and he answered many questions on his life as an author.  He finished off by autographing bookmarks.

October Rosary

The children have stopped worked for 5 minutes each day this week at 12:00 noon to pray a decade of the rosary for world peace.

They are still and sit in silence before we begin the prayer. They reflect on being loved by Jesus.

This will continue for the month of October.
