Our 10p Trail Challenge

As part of next week’s Financial Education Week and to raise money for our school funds, Primary 6 have taken responsibility for our school 10p trail which will begin next week and run for two weeks leading up to the Christmas Fayre on Saturday 16th November.

Our challenge is to create a trail of 10p pieces from Miss Boyd’s Office around the inside of our building and for the children to estimate how many 10p coins it will take to go right around and back to the start.Pupils can bring in any spare 10p coins from Monday and groups of pupils in P6 will help the pupils to lay their coins out. Unfortunately we will not to be able to give any change.  Coins will be secured down so that we don’t lose any!

At the end of next week pupils can begin estimating their amounts for  a 10p charge.  Primary 6 will then count up all the coins at the end of the two week challenge and there will be a small prize awarded to the person who guesses the closest to the amount collected. Hopefully we will complete the challenge to get back to the start and they will have lots of 10p pieces to count.

Farewell Miss Hughes

Primary 6 organised a Farewell Party for Miss Hughes this afternoon. They played party games and enjoyed some tasty treats. They will be sad to see Miss Hughes leave tomorrow as she has played a huge part in their primary 6 experience so far.

We will welcome Miss Hughes back on the 15th of December as she is coming to the school pantomime with St Patrick’s. The boys and girls are looking forward to seeing her again then.

Good luck Miss Hughes. Thank you for all your hard work. You are welcome back to p6 anytime! 🙂

P1 and P6 Buddies – Outdoor Learning Part 2

Primary 1 loved being outdoors again with their buddies. This week’s focus was on safety. We Learned the best way to light a fire in the forest, we loved toasting marshmallows and we learned how to put fires out safely.

Most important of all we learned that it’s crucial to take all our rubbish home so that the animals don’t get hurt by eating any plastics or wires!

A special thank you from Primary 1  to our very own Primary 6 buddy Lewis, also known as “Bear Grylls”. You really are a fantastic person to have outdoors. 🙂

We are looking forward to next week’s adventure. We noticed some bare Christmas trees… how can we cheer them up?
