P1 Inductions

Confident Individuals

These 4 confident P1’s shared their learning journey with the parents of the new intake today.

They talked about the skills/strategies they have learned in literacy and numeracy lessons. They then effectively demonstrated some of the skills to the parents.

Mrs McCargo is very proud of her wonderful spellers and mathematicians!

Two p6 girls also talked confidently about their responsibilities as buddies.

All the children were wonderful ambassadors for the school.

A visit from Susan

In primary 1 we are busy learning about People who help us.

Yesterday Susan came in to visit us and told us all about her very important job as a School Crossing Patroller.

We learned the three positions of the lollipop stick and went home and told everyone to watch for them!

P6 Bikeability Week 2

Here are some photographs from Group 2 Week 2.

Next week is our last session. Next term some pupils will be selected to take part in Bikeability 2.

More information to follow.

Pupils are pictured wearing some new sweatshirts which we were lucky enough to win in a competition sponsored by a local car garage!!

I did manage to get them to put our school badge on them!

Going Solo!

A huge congratulations to one of our P6 pupils who learned to ride a bike today. We are all so proud and happy for him . His mum told me that since having an accident when he was in nursery, he had been anxious about going on a bike and taking part in the Bikeability lessons in P6.

For the past two weeks Robert has come in a little earlier to work with him on his own and help with his balance and coordination. I truly witnessed something wonderful today to see him smiling and cycling unaided.   Well done.

P3 and P7 have fun at the park

P3 and P7 enjoyed their walk to the park this afternoon for some games and  playtime. The pupils enjoyed skipping, playing at football, making up their own obstacle courses and of course all the activities of the swing park. It was a great way to spend Friday afternoon in the sunshine.

Teddy Bear Picnic

Primary 1 children will have their Teddy Bear Picnic tomorrow. Children should wear school uniform, hopefully the sun will continue to shine, they may wish to wear sun hats and as always remember to put on sun protection cream.

The proceeds raised from the picnic go to St. Andrew’s Hospice.

Primary 1 children should remember to bring their teddies to school. (Friday)

Children will order packed lunches and have their picnic in the playground with their teacher.

Bikeability 2

Some of the P7 pupils who have completed their Bikeability 1 session with Robert, had their first opportunity to transfer their skills learned when they took part in their on road session. The pupils said they really enjoyed this experience and Mrs Carroll and I observed them growing in confidence using all their hand signals and manoeuvres. Next Wednesday will be their final led cycle session. We would  like to thank Robert Adams, the Cycling Training Officer for all his expert tuition and support throughout the P6/7 sessions with St Patricks.
