Some hae meat and cannae eat…

Primary 1 had great fun today learning all about Robert Burns and doing some special activities.

First, we learned that Burns writes in the Scots language. We decided to learn a traditional song that is also sung in Scots; ‘Three Craws’. (Tip: If the video doesn’t play, right-click or ‘hold’ on it for options).

After that, we teamed up with our buddies in Primary 6 to enjoy some delicious Scottish treats! Lots of boys and girls were surprised that they liked the haggis.

Finally, some children decided to get creative and make their own family tartan! They used toy cars to make the patterns and chose the colours they thought suited them best.

What a busy day!

Happy weekend everyone!

Burns Supper

Primary 2 welcomed their Primary 7 buddies into their classroom this afternoon where they all attended a special Burns Supper. They had great fun and got the opportunity to sample oatcakes, haggis, vegetarian haggis, needs and tatties. To finish off everyone enjoyed a piece of shortbread. It was a lovely afternoon.

Art Club

A very creative group of children from P4-P6 attended their first art club this week. We all had lots of fun using clothes pegs and cotton wool balls to create our paintings. We used scissors carefully and glued on the eyes and beaks in order to complete our snow owls.

We hope you enjoy them as much as we do. Roll on next week for our second art club. 🎨

Science Club

We kicked off science after school club with a STEM challenge. The children worked in groups to create the tallest standing structure with toothpicks and marshmallows. Each group experienced some problems along the way but worked together to solve them. The tallest free standing structure was 42cm, excellent work! I am already looking forward to next week.

P4 Technology

Some children in Primary 4 used their computer technology skills to create powerpoint presentations. They have been reading about global warming, recycling and saving water in class. Using facts from their reading books they typed sentences, used various transitions and inserted relevant images into each slide. The rest of the children were good listeners and will make powerpoints sometime soon.

Well done 🙂

Fractions

This morning we used wraps to help us understand fractions.

We had to pretend our wraps were pizza or cookies to ensure we had equal parts when we cut them.

We now have a better understanding of fractions, especially after testing our friends.

Have a look here for the pictures and videos of our lesson.

Estimation

January 22, 2019 by User deactivated | 0 comments

Primary 1 took advantage of the weather to do some of our estimating work outside. We estimated how many snowballs we could make in a minute and then checked our guesses, deciding which teams had ‘more’ or ‘less’. After that, we had fun picking on Miss Blair and Miss McShane during snowball fights! Some boys and girls even made a new member for our class; Frosty the Snowman.

Symmetry in the Snow

Primary 7 enjoyed doing their maths outside in the snow. They created pictures with lines of symmetry. They finished by having some fun and attempting to make snowmen.
