Maths Fun for Everyone!

This afternoon, as part of Maths Week, the children gathered in their houses for some maths fun.  We played Sumdog and other ICT maths games with Mrs Carroll.  We practised our counting and number recognition whilst playing dominoes, snakes and ladders and other board games with Mrs Neary and Mrs Slavin.  We explored 3D shape, pattern and symmetry using construction materials with Miss Park and Miss Coyle, and finally we had lots of maths fun outside with Mrs McCargo playing hopscotch, skipping and counting as we kicked and bounced balls.  A maths-tastic afternoon was had by all!!

Missio Champions

Today five pupils from P6 were commissioned as Missio Champions at a mass at St Francis Xavier’s Carfin. The children pledged to promote the work of Missio within our school and be a good example to all. We know that those chosen will work hard and will be a credit to our school. Mrs Allan accompanied the pupils and was very proud of them. They enjoyed receiving their special badges and had a photograph taken with Bishop Toal.

Maths Week at St Patrick’s

As part of Maths Week Scotland the children of St Patrick’s will be looking at maths in the world around them. In school we will be taking part in a maths trail and a fun maths afternoon on Thursday in our houses. We also have a maths drawing competition – look out for the details in school bags this week. The closing date is Friday 4th October for entries and there will be a maths prize for each class. We hope the children have a Maths-Tastic Time!

Primary 3/4 Nature Walk

Last week Primary 3/4 enjoyed their nature walk. We all admired the beautiful gardens on our way to the Coby. Our topic this term is Living Things so we used our checklists to identify any animals and plants that we found. We were able to identify flowering and non-flowering plants, as well as vertebrates and invertebrates. We were especially excited to see a cat and lots of friendly dogs!

It was a sunny day and we had lots of fun learning outside. Well done boys and girls. 🙂
