More Health Week Activities

We had a fantastic health week which included two skeletric, a fruit smoothy  and a balloon bike which were available for pupils to try.

Pupils enjoyed selecting their fruit  and peddling on the bikes to make their fruit smoothy.

Other pupils enjoyed peddling on the skeletrics bikes and seeing their balloons inflate. Thank you to our Active Schools Coordinator and our school janitors for all their help last week.

On Friday, Allanah a dance coach from NLC,   taught pupils from each stage a short animal themed dance and the whole school came together at the end of the day, bringing it all together and showcasing our pupils’ fantastic talent. Hopefully this will be available to view at Parents’ evening.

Happy Peddling!

WOW Travel Tracker

Congratulations to Primary 2 who won the inter class competition during health week for the class who were most engaged walking to school last week. On Friday the Travel Tracker team and Strider visited school and presented all pupils with a filled walk to school pencil case. They also told pupils that St Patrick’s are currently the most engaged school in North Lanarkshire using the travel tracker. Thank you also to all parents who are supporting their child’s efforts in attempting to record a walk or park and stride. Keep up the good work and we will all be a lot healthier and will helping to reduce the  carbon footprint.

Wordsworth Project

Although we are still waiting confirmation about the amount of money we will receive from the Groundwork Tesco grant, which will be used to purchase new playground equipment to enhance pupils’ enjoyment and health activities during playtime and lunchtime, as well as providing further opportunities to increase outdoor learning, we have started some consultative work with all pupils in school. Last week all pupils were asked to talk with their classmates and teachers about activities and games they currently do outside and also what equipment and activities could increase this. Some pupils drew some pictures. On Friday, some pupils were chosen to incorporate those ideas into a video presentation called the ‘Pupil Voice

Pupil Voice Wordsworth Project

Wordsworth Project’. Photographs of the pupils making up the words to represent their ideas as well as ‘Talking Heads’ were filmed and this will be put together into a short animation. This will be available to view on Parents’ evening on Thursday 31st March. Hopefully by then we will be able to tell everyone how much grant we will receive. Thank you to everyone who put tokens into the Tesco stores.
