Children were issued with parent and carer invitations to play “Beat The Street” and a card for parents who wish to participate should register the card at: northlan.beatthestreet.me

I will explain the challenge to the children tomorrow.

They will each received a fob and a map which locates beat boxes. Walk, cycle or run, get fit and have some fun!

Welcome Back!

I hope you all had an enjoyable Easter Break. The children are back refreshed and looking forward to the summer term.

Things to look out for this week:

  • A letter detailing the summer outing. This year we will go to Heads of Ayr on Wednesday 22nd June.
  • ‘Beat The Street’ this is a walking and cycling game/challenge to encourage communities to increase physical activity. Children will be given a fob, which they will tap against a lamp post as they journey around the area.
  • The ‘Challenge’ starts on the 20th April for 6 weeks until the 1st June.
  • I will launch with the children at assembly and issues fobs when they arrive in the school. Download the link for more information: BTS North Lanarkshire A5 Leaflet AW [25719]

Tesco Playground Grant

Thank you to everyone who voted for our school in the Tesco Groundwork Playground grant. We found out on Thursday that we have been awarded £10,000 to spend on new playground equipment and activities and have a year to spend the money. I hope you enjoyed  watching the first part of the ‘Wordsworth’ playground consultation which the pupils have been involved in. I might have to see about a change in music for the second part!  The consultation process will continue into next term. We will keep you informed and look forward to others’ suggestions in the coming months.

Lenten Appeal

St. Patrick’s Primary Lent Appeal is now over. An amazing £1637 was raised for St. Andrew’s Hospice, Airdrie. The staff and myself have been overwhelmed by the generosity of the children, parents and the community of New Stevenston. This sum of money will be greatly appreciated by the hospice, who have been following on our blog. Staff from the hospice will be invited to an assembly where they will be presented with the cheque.

A huge THANK YOU to everyone – your generosity will be rewarded.

Netball Club Comes to an end

Tuesday was the last netball session. Jazz the NLC Coach was very impressed by the pupil’s skills and the netball girls seemed to really enjoy their club.

The final fundamental session will be on Tuesday 29th March.
