Public Speaking Competition

Three children from Primary 7  participated in the Taylor High School Public Speaking Competition.  They were absolutely fantastic as they presented an argument for opening derelict buildings to Scotland’s homeless.  It is with great pride that I can announce that they walked away in triumph with a trophy and medals for first place.  I am extremely proud of all the hard work they have put into planning and presenting their talk.  Well done!

Something Fishy

Primary 1 have been very keen to show off the wonderful aquariums they made at home.

They all got the chance to talk about how they made them, the resources they used and the fun they had working with someone at home on such a fun project.

Well done to everyone!

The Romans Assembly

Primary 4 really enjoyed their performance of the Romans. They all worked very hard to learn lots of facts about the Romans and encouraged each other as we prepared for our assembly. The children made the assembly their own by contributing lots of their own ideas to the performance.

This Week at St Patrick’s

It is going to be another busy week at school so here are a few reminders.

On Monday afternoon we will be entertained by Primary 4 when they showcase their learning from their Roman topic in their focussed assembly at 2.15. Look out for their photographs afterwards.

(Pupils should remember their white t shirts, shorts and gym shoes for this)

PLPs and jotters will be going home on Monday and must be returned on Tuesday. Please take some time to look over these with your child(children) and refer to the guidance notes for completing PLPs if you are unsure.

On Tuesday we will be going to St John Bosco Parish Church for 9.30 to celebrate the Feast of St John Bosco. Primary 6 will lead the mass and you are very welcome to join us if you can.

There is also a mass in Motherwell Cathedral on Tuesday evening at 7.30 in preparation for Catholic Education Week which runs from 12-18th February. As this year’s theme is “Developing as a Community of Faith” everyone is invited to attend the mass with Bishop Toal as the Chief Celebrant.

Tuesday afternoon is Movie Day, so not long to choose your favourite film to watch. Treats will be provided and money collected will be used for school funds.

On Friday afternoon  three pupils from P7 – Julianna, Lucy and Jordan will represent St Patrick’s Primary at a public speaking competition at Taylor High School. Courtney, Darin and Natasha who were runners up in the audition to take part will also be going along to support their classmates.

The Health and Wellbeing survey for P5-7  will begin this week. The 10 day opt out period finishes on Monday so please return any slips by Tuesday at the latest.

Not long now until Primary leave for Kilbowie. Please pay all monies and £10 pocket money by Thursday this week. Information regarding our school pick up time  will be sent out later this week.

Finally I have loved looking at all the great news and photographs posted so far and I am looking forward to hearing  all the great news from other classes soon. Keep up the hard work. Please leave us some comments.

Primary 3 News

Primary 3 have been working hard since returning from the Christmas holidays.

In Maths, we have been working with money.  We have been investigating different ways to make values and will soon be practising paying for items and giving change.

In Writing, we will be focusing on poetry and have already written some rainbow poems.

We are also enjoying our new topic which is Electricity.  We have been learning about different types of energy and identifying things in our own homes which use gas, electricity or batteries.  We will be learning about where electricity comes from and ways to stay safe around electricity.
