Outdoor Learning – P6 Numeracy

Primary 6 have been looking at money and are currently working with budgets in class. They took their numeracy skills outdoors and applied their knowledge to a real life context.

They used their information handling skills in class beforehand to work out the quantity of the items needed for a party. The boys and girls then visited their local Scotmid in New Stevenston this afternoon and worked in groups to price items needed for the party. They were given a budget to stick to and worked co-operatively with each other to see who could get the best value for their ‘money.’

A big thank you to the staff at Scotmid for allowing us to visit the store today. Everyone was really friendly and accommodating. Despite the rain the children had lots of fun learning in a different environment.

Well done primary 6! 🙂
