The boys and girls carried out an experiment this week to help them understand why boats float.  We dropped balls of plasticine into water and observed that they sank.  Next we formed our plasticine into boat shapes and after a few tries everyone managed to make a plasticine boat that was able to float. We learned that the Greek Mathematician Archimedes discovered the theory of water displacement whilst having a bath!
