Primary 6 are enjoying their new topic Titanic ‘the Unsinkable Ship.’ They are fascinated by the luxury liner and have so far worked co-operatively in pairs and trios to gather information and write notes. They have also written newspaper reports about the launch of the ship too.

In maths this term primary 6 will be looking at measuring, estimating and drawing lengths. They will measure various objects using a ruler, metre stick and trundle wheel. In literacy they are reading various novels in their groups and are also learning about a selection of poetic forms and techniques. This will help them to write a poem inspired by their dreams for an upcoming writing competition. Our focus this week is similes and metaphors.

In health and wellbeing, the children are enjoying a 4-week football coaching session while learning about recycling and what they can do to reduce their carbon footprint. This Thursday the children will attend Taylor High School and will be involved in a variety of different sporting activities. We will be walking there and back so hopefully it doesn’t rain. 🙂

Primary 6 are also looking forward to more opportunities to work with their primary one buddies. They will participate in guided reading sessions with their buddies, either at the library or in class. They will also work together to complete art work linked to Robert Burns this week too.

We are all looking forward to an interesting term.
