Ancient Farming Tools

We have had lots of fun learning about Ancient Scotland.  Yesterday we worked in small groups to complete different design challenges. We were challenged to design tools that the ancient Scottish farmers may have used.  We were only allowed to use materials that would have been available between 3000-2000BC. Here are some pictures of us working on our challenge and presenting our finished tool designs.

P7 tartan making

This week Primary 7 have been designing some tartan that would be suitable for the Jacobites. They firstly designed the tartan in their jotters and then got more creative by creating tartan patches using coloured card and coloured wool. The tartan effect was completed by weaving the wool through the card. They look fabulous, have a look at the children preparing their tartan.

P6/5 and P6 Cooperative Clans

Happy Friday everyone!

Today, our two classes got together again, to create a timeline for the Jacobites topic. It was really good! We didn’t realise how much time had passed between King James VII and II being removed from the throne and his grandson, Bonnie Prince Charlie, going to claim it back. Look how we got on!

P7 Rugby

This week Primary 7 began a 6 week block of rugby with Ruaridh from the School of Sport. Ruaridh is trying to encourage the children to join the School of Sport once they go to St Maurice’s in August.

The children have been learning how to play touch rugby and have had the opportunity to practise passing, attacking and defending. They have been able to play short games of touch rugby in their groups.

Here are some pictures of the class in action.

Purposeful Play in P1A

Our theme for this session in Purposeful Play is Scotland.  We are finding out lots of facts to share with Percy the Park Keeper because he is coming to visit Scotland for his holiday.  We worked in the Tourist Information Shop, made castles out of Lego and on the computer, designed tartan and  made plasticine Loch Ness Monsters.
