P7 Symmetry

We have started a new topic in maths this week – symmetry. The children have been revising what a line of symmetry is and completing shapes using this knowledge.

They have used mirrors to assist them and also have created shapes, which have a line of symmetry, for their partners to complete.

P7 visit from St Maurice’s

This afternoon Mrs Gallagher and Mr Grechin from St Maurice’s visited Primary 7 to deliver an RE lesson. We began by singing a psalm and then we moved to class to discuss the bible. We had a Bible quiz and the boys were against the girls – the competitive side definitely came out in the children.

The children learned about the different books in the bible and also how to find stories and quotes using the chapters and verses. They were able to discuss a quote from the book and give a reason to why they chose it.

Primary 7 topic

Primary 7 have already started work on their new topic – World War 2. They have started reading their novel, Carrie’s war and yesterday they completed their own front cover for the book after reading the blurb and discussing what the novel was about. Here are all the different varieties created.

This is morning we completed some research on why WW2 started and how Britain recruited people for the army. We have been creating propaganda posters this afternoon, trying to encourage people to fight for their country.

P7 Visit St Maurice’s

Today Primary 7 visited the School of Sport in St Maurice’s. They had taster sessions in basketball and rugby. They were mixed with the children from St Helen’s and St Michael’s so this gave them an opportunity to make some new friends before going to high school in August.

Some of our class already know what they will be signing up for in S1!

P7 projects

Today we had the final presentations for our 90’s projects. Yet again they were very informative and it was clear the children put a lot of time and effort into their presentations. Some even added music!

We are hoping to use some of our presentations in our fashion show in St Maurice’s at the end of the month.

P7 mile a day

Primary 7 have completed 2 mile a day walks this week. We will do one tomorrow as well. Since we have had such lovely weather we have decided to do this instead of one of our hours of PE inside. It has taken us about 20-25 minutes to complete each walk but we are hoping in the future we will be able to run it!

P7 90’s projects

Primary 7 continued presenting their 90’s projects today. They matched the standards of yesterday’s presentations and we learned some great information about different 90’s events. Some of these included Nelson Mandela, the death of Princess Diana, the release of the Internet and many more. Have a look at some of the children’s presentations.

PE Scrabble

Primary 7 had a great time this afternoon at PE. They participated in a cross curricular lesson with linked their fitness session with Literacy. They were split into groups to complete PE Scrabble. Each team member had to complete a series of exercises including burpees, jumping jacks and squat jumps before gaining a letter for their group in order to make a word.

Many words were made and the group who used the most letters were the winners! Who knew spelling could be so competitive!?

P7 90’s projects

Primary 7 have been researching and completing personal topics at home about events in the 90’s. This is in preparation for our fashion show at St Maurice’s. Our class have been asked to focus on the 90’s and different things that happened in this decade.

Yesterday we some children present their projects to the class, they were so informative, I was very impressed!! I look forward to seeing the rest of the presentations throughout the week and I will keep you posted with the children’s hard work.
