Primary 7 were lucky enough this week to see some real artifacts from World War 2. Mrs Johnson’s friend collects things from the War and was kind enough to give us a box of items to look at. We saw a real gas mask – made by BMW, a field telephone, a camouflage jacket, binoculars, a water canteen, identity books and many badges and medals won by soldiers in the war. The children were fascinated by the items wanted to do further research on them.

Lenten promises
Primary 7b discussed why we celebrate Lent and what we could do throughout Lent to be closer to God. We decided to make a Lenten journey and plan how we could pray more, fast and give alms. We wrote our promises on footprints and put them on display to remind ourselves of what we should be doing during Lent.
Bikeability 1 complete
All children who took participated in the first part of bike ability 1 have passed the course. They had their final session with Robert today and the children all took part with enthusiasm. They will each receive a certificate and a badge for passing and one lucky person will win a goody bag for most effort put in throughout the sessions. This will be announced on Friday at assembly and the children will also receive their certificates then. Bike ability 2 will begin April 24th for the primary 7 children who want to take part. Here are some photos of our last session.
Studyladder
Primary 7b have all been signed up to Studyladder. This is a website where the children can complete interactive tasks and activities linked to all curricular areas. We have been focussing on using it in maths, in particular, money. The children have thoroughly enjoyed playing the games to earn points and also to further their knowledge and skills in different areas. This is something they can also access at home.

Scottish Storyteller
Today marks the start of our Scottish week in St Patrick’s. This morning P7 went together to listen to Daniel tell us a few traditional Scottish stories. He told us the story of the Mermaid Bride from Orkney. The children were all very excited to hear the story and were totally enthralled when Daniel was delivering the story in such an exciting way.
At the end he performed some music on his didgeridoo, the children especially liked his beat boxing.
When returning to class, P7b used their imagination to create some visualisers linked to the story.
P7b shapes
Primary 7b have been looking at 2D and 3D shapes. Today we focussed on 2D shapes and polygons. The children looked at different shapes and discussed their properties and if they were regular or irregular polygons. They worked in their groups to complete tables identifying the shape names, what they look like and their properties. Tomorrow we will focus on 3D shapes.
