What is Emotional Health?
Emotional Health is defined as: “the state of being in control of the way your feel.”
Being able to regulate and manage your feelings is an integral part of your day. Of course, you will have days you feel happy, excited and “buzzing”, but you will also have days where you feel sad, scared or upset. This is a normal, natural thing. However, sometimes those feelings can become uncontrollable and you tend to have days where you cannot change the way you feel, regardless of what you do.
Below are a variety of resources to support key areas of Emotional Health.
Emotional Hygiene
If you fall and cut yourself, you know that you need to stop the bleeding, clean the wound and put a plaster over it. This prevents any infection. Young children from age 5 know this. Because it is easy to understand. Yet, even as adults, we don’t understand that when there is an emotional wound that needs treatment too in order to prevent things from getting worse.
