Friday 10th March 2017

This week, Primary One enjoyed learning about the lots of different ways to be seen when out and about in the dark during a talk from JRSO. They were delighted to be given reflectors to put on their school bags or jackets to help with road safety.

The children have been working very well on active maths activities and are using mental agility to improve addition and subtraction skills.

Primary One were also learning to create a beginning, middle and end to their story in taught writing and worked very hard to accurately sequence their work.

They had great fun today playing distance games as part of the ‘Stirling Marathon Challenge’ .

A fantastic week, Primary One!

Friday 10th March

Hello from Primary Two,

Recently the children of Primary Two were involved in  Lego Therapy. This involved the children building Lego models in small groups where the children take on different roles and work together. The children really enjoyed turn taking, sharing, joint problem solving and general social communication skills.

We went for a visit to our local recycling plant Viridor. Where we were able to recycle the rest of the milk cartons  that were left over from our igloo and also to watch and find out about some other rubbish disposal being weighed and then watching it be divided into specific areas. The four children were very interested and very well behaved.

Forest Kindergarten

Had another fantastic day at Forest Kindergarten, The children were very adventurous climbing trees, making swings and dens. They loved exploring in the woods looking for Deer and Birds. Ronan was very clever using the bungee ropes to help him climb the trees what a clever boy. Finlay found tree branches to help him cross a puddle. What great imaginations turned into great games.

Thank you again to the parent helpers  we wouldn’t be able to do it without you.

Friday 3rd March

The children in P5/6 enjoyed welcoming  Daniel to St Kevin’s this week .  Daniel is from Malaga  and he is going to be helping us to develop our Spanish speaking skills over the next six weeks .

We have also been working very hard in class with Mrs McKendrick . We enjoyed working collaboratively  to prepare a group presentation about why it is important to have a healthy balanced diet  using our knowledge of the five main food groups  . Everyone worked well together  while trying to consider the ideas of all group members .

We have started to create some fabulous posters which we will use next week to report our findings .

Friday 3rd March

Hello from Primary 6/7

This week we had a special visitor from St Ambrose, Daniel, who is working with us for the next 6 weeks. Daniel is from Spain and we are delighted to be working with him for the next few weeks. It is a fantastic opportunity to practice our accent and pronunciation of Spanish words and vocabulary. This week we were learning about hobbies and sharing these. Have a go and see if you can guess some of our favourites.

Me gusta jugar fútbol.

Me gusta jugar baloncesto.

Me gusta escuchar música.

Me gusta leer.

Today, some of our sports leaders have been working with their peers as part of the challenge ‘Stirling Marathon’ where they are encouraged to be more active whilst in the playground at break times and lunch times. Lauren and Mia were recording distances travelled by each child and at the end of the challenge the children who achieve the full 24 miles marathon distance will receive a badge and a certificate. Well done to the children who participated today.

Friday, 3rd March 2017

This week has been a very busy one in Primary Three.

To mark the beginning of Lent on Wednesday, we decided to make a Lenten promise chain of the things we will try to give up or take up for the 40 day period. We had a big discussion about why we were challenging ourselves this way, and we set achievable goals for ourselves. We hope that by doing this we will be able to understand more the sacrifices Jesus made when he was wandering the desert.

We also wanted to share our Lost Sheep display, which we made to remind ourselves that Jesus is our Shepard, who will always come looking for us if we are lost.

Thursday was a very special day at school as it was World Book Day!

To celebrate, we all brought in our favourite books from home and enjoyed sharing them with each other. We also had a lot of fun taking part in a scavenger hunt, where we had to work in teams to find books with certain things in them. As you can see we were all great team players and worked really well together.

We were also thrilled to learn that the author Matt Oldfield had given our class some of his books to enjoy! This was especially good news for those of us who love football – as his books are all about football players! We decided to write him some letters to ask questions about being an author, and tell him how grateful we are.
