Whole School Assembly

The whole school gathered together on Friday morning for a school assembly to welcome Robyn Gracey from Source Bio Science who came along to speak to the children about their work and to present our school with two football strips.  We were delighted to receive such support and will hopefully be able to arrange for some of our children to visit their labs in Livingston.  Thank you to Mrs.Fraser for making contact with  Source BIO Science and also to BioScience themselves.  At our assembly we were also joined by some representatives from several of our Make a Difference groups.  They informed us about Switch Off Fortnight, A Road Safety Competition and an Enterprise Project to raise school funds.  Super work boys and girls.

Scottish Parliament Visitor

As part of Pr.5’s studies the class invited a member of the Scottish Parliament Outreach Team to discuss the working of the parliament.  Angela spent the morning with the class and gave a wonderfully detailed presentation.  She was delighted to report that the children appeared to know more than her!!!

A visitor to Pr.5

As  part of class studies around democracy, elections and the Scottish Parliament the boys and girls of Pr.5 welcomed a local SNP candidate Mr.Stephen Kirley.  He gave a wonderful presentation and enthused the children about the complexities of our parliament.  We are very grateful to Mr.Kirley for giving his time and coming along to visit the class last week.

Winter Walk

Last week Primary one and two went on a Winter Walk exploring their senses. It was an extremely cold morning and they had to wrap up well wearing hat scarves and gloves. They saw many signs of Winter and even saw some ice and snow over the ground. Some children even seen some snow on the way to school that morning! They explored their sense of smell through the crisp air, their sense of touch by feeling the frost on the ground and the damp leaves along the garden. They felt the bark on the trees and saw many fallen braches on the ground. They also felt their own cold noses and red cheeks and those of their friends!

They investigated the changes in the season and discussed what we could do to protect our garden and raised beds throughout the winter.

They all headed in doors to challenge our taste buds by sampling some spices such as; cinnamon and ginger, cinnamon was very popular.

Room 3 then got to work writing about their adventure in their taught writing jotters.

Have a look at our fab pictures!
