Spotlight on Success

Our assembly prior to the end of term celebrated pupil achievement across the school with children being recognised for displaying their work on Achievement Avenue.  Our spotlight on success gave one Pr.1 pupil the opportunity to share his homework activities and learning with the school community.  We also celebrated the many out of school achievements that our pupils enjoy.  A talented bunch indeed!! Two of our senior pupils presented their Eco presentation to inform everyone about the importance of having a clean and tidy dining hall and ensuring all rubbish is in the bin.  Well done girls.

Charity Fundraising

Two of our entrepreurial pupils made plastic coasters and drinks toppers, minecraft badges andsummer bracelets all constructed from Hama beads and donated £151 to DEBRA as a result of the money they raised at our summer fair.  DEBRA have indicated they received this fantastic sum and are keen to come in and speak to the school community and to express their thanks to our wonderful pupils!!  We look forward to welcoming Clare Moffat from DEBRA to the school in the very near future.

Halloween week of Learning

The children in Room 3 were busy learning through several Halloween themed lessons on the last week of the term.  Firstly they began by decorating their classroom and using thir Halloween word mats to write their own spooky sentences.  The class cauldron was used to help revise common words and blending words.

In maths the children learned about 2D shapes and made scary Halloween shape pictures.  They children shared them with Mrs Elliot and she was very impressed!

During purposeful play the children made scary spiders, witches and bats on their play dough mats. They created Halloween performances in role play,  built scary haunted houses in construction and  even made Halloween potions in science.

In the kitchen they made and tasted delicious pumpkin soup.  Mrs.Docherty said it was absolutely delicious!

The boys and girls have been learning a Halloween song and poem to perform to the mums and dads at the Halloween Parade.

A very spooky week in Room 3.  Fangtastic work!!!

End of Term Fun Day

The whole school enjoyed the last day of term and celebrated their own achievement in remaining on Green as part of our promotion of positive behaviour across the school.  It was great to see the look on everyone’s face as they entered the hall and saw the massive inflatable assault course and the variety of stations set up around the hall.  Good to be Green has been a huge success across the school and is sending out a clear message in regard of what is acceptable and unacceptable behaviour across the school.  The school thanks all parents for their support in making our whole school programme a success this term.

Heartstart Training

The school greatly thanks the senior pupils of St.Ambrose and Mrs.Sullivan who came along to the school to teach the children of Pr.6 about how to deal with an unconscious casualty and also how to administer CPR.  It is wonderful to see such excellent partnership working and to welcome former pupils back to the school.

End of Term Fun Day

dress_code_non_uniform_day-1Friday will be a non-uniform day for all pupils across the school.  Children who have managed to remain on Green for the majority of the term will be rewarded with a visit to the school hall for some activities and the giant assault course.  The school aims to reward children who have followed the rules, shown respect and remained on Green each term with an end of term treat.  Well done boys and girls.
