Friday Assembly

On Friday our magnificent House Captains and Vice Captains presented their last whole school assembly as they came to the end of their term in office.  They have been outstanding ambassadors for the school and lead by example.  Next week elections will be held for our new House Captains.  Friday’s assembly was an opportunity for presenting school news and and celebrating success.  Our gymnastic team achieved great success on Wednesday and the team got a chance to take a bow and receive their certificates.  Our Writers of the Month, Maths Star of the Month and Artist of the Month also received their awards and will have their work displayed in Achievement Avenue.  One of our Pr.1 pupils came out to tell the school about how he had a growth mindset and never gave up when he was learning to ride his bike.  Now he can ride his bike with only two wheels! It was a great message to share with the school about trying and succeeding.  Great work boys and girls!

Gymnastic Superstars

The school is delighted to announce that for the second year running  our team of gymnasts who attended the North Lanarkshire Gymnastic Championship at Airdrie Academy were a winning bunch. Everyone was absolutely tremendous and were a real credit to the school.  Great team work was on display that lead to first and second placings with outstanding individual performances that lead to individual medals.  Quite an accomplishment!  Great work St.Augustine’s Gymnastic Team,  the whole school is so proud of you.

Pr.7 Burns Supper

Our fantastic Pr.7 pupils hosted a Burns Supper on Wednesday.  They gave a very informative presentation about the life of Rabbie Burns, sang, recited poetry and performed some drama.  Then it was off to serve their invited guests with a plate of haggis, neeps and tatties made by our wonderful catering staff.  Many thanks to Mrs.McKeown and the catering team.  It was an excellent afternoon with our Pr.7 pupils really shining.  They were a real credit to Mrs.Drummond and Mrs.Fraser.   Great work boys and girls.

Our Infant Communication Team learned about the work of Rabbie Burns.  They made information posters and treated the infant classes to a rendition My Love is Like a Red, Red Rose.  Here is their slide show and hopefully we have managed to upload a short video clip.  The upload is upside down (I couldn’t change it) so apologies if you are trying to view on a laptop.
