Sportshall Athletics

Some of our Pr. 6 and 7 pupils represented the school at a sportshall athletics event at Airdrie Leisure Centre on Friday. This was a highly competitive event to qualify for the NL finals.  Our fingers are crossed that our group of athletes have scored high enough.  They are to be commended for their great effort and determination on the day.  Fantastic work boys and girls.

Pope Francis Faith Award

The school and parish were delighted to see such a great turn out of Pr.6 pupils and parents for the enrolment Mass last night.  It was truly wonderful to see so many of our children committed to their faith and prepared to become involved in the award and to put their faith into action.  We look forward to a very exciting time for our Pope Francis Faith Award candidates.

How beautiful it would be if each of you, every evening, could say: “Today at school, at home, at work, guided by God, I showed a sign of love towards one of my friends, my parents, an older person!”

(Pope Francis, addressing young people, April 2013)

A visitor to the office

I was delighted this afternoon to receive a visit from a very hard working Pr.6 pupil who was eager to share his homework project all about the European Union.  He could talk at length all about what he had learned and was very keen to share his project.  Great work indeed!  I look forward to seeing the research projects from the rest of the class when they have finished.

Rugby Festival

Our Pr.4 – 7 pupils were invited to a Rugby Festival on Monday 7th at the Waysiders Rugby Club in Drumpellier. The children returned to school full of energy and enthused about their morning. They gave it a resounding 10 out of 10. The event was very well organised and accommodated the 180 pupils who attended from St.Augustine’s. A huge big thank you to everyone at the Rugby club for hosting such an event. We hope you to make a return visit soon.

Pr. 4 – 6 visit Five Sisters Zoo

Our Pr.4 – 6 pupils left the school on mass this week to visit Five Sisters Zoo as part of their work on Biodiversity this term. The feedback from the children on their return was extremely positive and demonstrated that the children had enjoyed a most successful trip and had learned a great deal. I received a phonecall just as I was leaving school last night to pass on compliments to the school for the wonderful behaviour and polite manners that were on show from all our boys and girls at the zoo. This was a delightful surprise and our children are to be commended for being excellent ambassadors for the school. Well done boys and girls.
