Our Pr.6 and 7 pupils will receive the Sacrament of Confirmation on Thursday evening.  The service will begin at 7.00pm and all children are asked to be seated by 6.45pm. Staff will be on hand to ensure all sponsors are directed to the correct seats that correspond with the children.  We pray for our our Confirmandi at this very important time on their Faith journey.

Room 14 Update

The boys and girls of Pr.6, Room 14 have been very busy over the last few weeks learning about WWI and are now sharing their learning with each other.  They have carried out their own research and have happily shared it with each other.  Here are a few pictures that show the pupils developing their presentation skills whilst informing their classmates about the interesting facts they have uncovered.  Well done boys and girls, confident individuals indeed!

Cross Country

Last week we had a strong group of very talented long distance runners who took part in the North Lanarkshire Qualifiers.  It was a great morning that gave our very talented pupils the opportunity to represent the school with pride.  We are delighted to announce that every single pupil beat their personal best and we also have a number of pupils who qualified for the finals.  What a super achievement!!  Great work boys and girls!

Euro Quiz

A huge congratulations to the Euro Quiz team who took part and scored so highly at todays quiz.  They did a wonderful job of representing the school.  This was the first time the school had entered the competition and did wonderfully well.   Mrs. Elliott was so proud of them and stated they should also DSC_6453St Augustinesfeel really proud of themselves .

Rabbie Burns Event

Our pupils of Room 13,14,15 and 16 entertained parents and grandparents to a collection of poetry recitals and song as we celebrated Burns Day.  Our visitors were also delighted to tuck into a lovely plate of haggis, neeps and tatties thanks to our wonderful catering staff. Our raffle and donations also raised money for our partner St. Andrew’s Hospice.  A wonderful afternoon was had by all with all visitors passing their compliments to the kitchen staff, teachers and especially the children.  Many thanks to Mr.William Devoy who joined us from the Burns Society.

Sportshall Athletics

Our athletes left the school today to take part in the finals at Ravenscraig.  The competition involved all the finalists from across the authority.  We are delighted that they put on a great display and represented the school so well in such a highly competitive event.  We will be in a position to post some photographs of the event next week.  Well done boys and girls you were wonderful and a real credit to the school!!

Medal Winning Gymnasts

The school is absolutely delighted that our first attendance at the NL Championship resulted in a medal haul!!! One of our teams won gold and we also have several gold, silver and bronze individual medal winners.  Impressive stuff!! They won’t be going to Rio for the Olympics but give it a few more years and we could be looking at a future Commonwealth or Olympic Champion.

Rabbie Burns Supper

As noted within our newsletter the boys and girls of Room 13,14,15 and 16 will host a Burns Supper for parents and grandparents of those classes.  However, the event clashes with pupils from that stage who will be attending the NLC Sportshall Athletics Championships.  At the time of going to print I thought the event was to take place from 10 – 12, however, the event is from 10 – 2.00 that day.  As a result of this clash our Rabbie Burns Supper will take place on Monday 25th January at 1.30pm. Please accept my apologies for any inconvenience this may now cause if required to alter previously set arrangements.  Children from the stated classes will be sending their invites home with the amended date.
