The school is delighted to announce that for the second year running our team of gymnasts who attended the North Lanarkshire Gymnastic Championship at Airdrie Academy were a winning bunch. Everyone was absolutely tremendous and were a real credit to the school. Great team work was on display that lead to first and second placings with outstanding individual performances that lead to individual medals. Quite an accomplishment! Great work St.Augustine’s Gymnastic Team, the whole school is so proud of you.
The boys and girls of Pr.4 and 5 showed off their dance moves at their party this afternoon with Mrs.Thomson, Mrs.McGlone, Miss Lester and Miss Watt joining them on the dance floor!! Tomorrow it will be the turn of Pr.6 and 7 to get their party clothes on and show off their fancy footwork!
Check out our slideshow of the Halloween Disco for Pr.4 – 7. A fabulous night was had by all. Apologies to parents for having to wait to pick up their child after the disco but we must ensure every child is picked up from the premises. Children are not allowed to leave without an adult. Due to the volume of children and adults we had to stagger everything to ensure we did not become overcrowded and could fully ensure all children were picked up by a parent. Your understanding and patience in this regard was much appreciated.
The boys and girls of Pr.4 got to visit the kitchen this week to make mouthwatering bruschetta. The smell throughout the corridor was delicious. Here are a few pictures of our chefs at work. Let’s hope they put their culinary skills to great use at home.
The boys and girls in Room 12 have been working very hard to design and create a rain gauge this week. First of all, they worked in cooperative groups to design a piece of equipment which was water proof, recycled and wind proof and able to measure rainfall. They then used these design plans to create the rain gauges. They used recycled 2 litre plastic bottles, with stones at the bottom to make sure the gauges didn’t fly away in the wind. Then they added jelly to make sure the gauge was very level and to give it a more accurate reading. Now everyone is patiently waiting on the jelly to set before carefully putting the rain gauges outside around the school. The clas will check the rain measurements every day, and compare the rainfall in Coatbridge to the rainfall in the Amazon rainforest. I am sure this will prove to be a very interesting investigation. Great work boys and girls of Room 12.
Here are the photographs of our award winners from the Pr. 1 – 4 assembly on Wenesday. We are also featuring our children who have achieved notable success outside of school. Well done boys and girls!!
