St.Ambrose Pr.7 Transition

Attention all parents of Pr. 7 pupils who will be transitioning to St.Ambrose for session 20/21.  May is traditionally the time for transition work and induction days to St. Ambrose High School in order that the children become acquainted with their  new learning environment.  Unfortunately things will looks considerably different this year.  To support pupils and to ensure they get a feel for the new building and become familiar with staff St.Ambrose will be posting tweets and videos as part of their Virtual transition to S1.  So far Mrs.Douglas, Head Teacher has introduced herself and Mrs. Sullivan from Home Economics has given a tour of her department. There will be daily videos to showcase the work of al deprtments so please make sure your pupils keep updated.  Please ensure you have checked our twitter for retweets or have checked on St.Ambrose twitter page or our own PTA twitter account.

The wonders of twitter

Father Kane and Deacon David have been doing a wonderful job keeping in contact with the congregation and supporting families at home. Deacon David has also been out and about  sharing his pilgrimage around the parishes of Coatbridge. Please check out his video on twitter.  Please remember to follow Father Kane on twitter and to check out our own twitter account for updates and news. Our PTA also have a twitter account and regularly retweet information from the school, St. Ambrose and the Parish.

DOM Daily Angelus Challenge Card

Start of a New Week

Our week ahead involves spending time away from school and once again all teachers are on hand to ensure children are engaged in their learning and remain on track.  Teachers are uploading work to glow on a weekly and daily basis  and are readily available to give feedback and to chat. We understand that supporting your child’s learning at home will present it’s own challenges as you possibly may be juggling your own work demands, the care of younger children and managing the use of an electronic device that has to be shared among siblings. This is no easy undertaking and all while sharing the same space.  Please sit with your child/children and make your own timetable for the week ahead.  Review the activities/challenges set by your child’s teacher and agree what is the focus for the week ahead.  We don’t want anyone to feel overwhelmed or under pressure.  Keeping your child/children safe and happy is the priority.  Remember there are plenty of fun experiences that you can oversee at home that are opportunities for learning and developing essential life skills – setting he table, washing the dishes, making the bed, tidying up, riding a bike, baking, cooking, gardening.  Please encourage your child to pursue their own interests and develop how this can be shared- notes, mind map, journal, video , pictures etc. It has been great to see that so many of our children are developing great skills and effectively developing as independent learners.

Wednesday is International Dance Day so get your dancing shoes on! Please send us some clips of your moves.

Thursday is International Guide Dog Day.  Can you write a fact file about Guide Dogs?

Please know that we love and miss everyone!

Take care, stay safe and enjoy the week ahead.

Fun Friday

We have had lovely sunshine this week so I hope you had a chance to get outside and play.   If you have the good fortune to have a garden or a shared open space why not build a den.  Be creative and use what you have at home – old sheets and cushions, bits of wood, sticks,  Let’s see the pictures of your amazing designs!!

Financial concerns as a result of lockdown

Ways to ease the burden of worry

If you are struggling financially as a result of the coronavirus outbreak there is a wealth of helpful information and advice on the web.

If you have been told by your employer not to work, Citizens Advice Scotland has information on what this means for you, including details around ‘furloughing’ – what it is, who’s eligible and how to arrange it.

If you’re really struggling to get by as a result of the coronavirus outbreak, the Scottish Welfare Fund provides an emergency safety net for people on low incomes and benefits, especially in times of crisis. Visit NLC web page for more information and to find out if you might be eligible. The service is very busy just now so if you can’t get through straight away, please bear with us and keep trying.

Get practical help and advice to better manage and control your budget, keep energy bills down and remain on top of your finances while we all stay safe at home.

And remember If your income has been reduced, you may be entitled to help with your council tax/housing benefit. Calculate and claim housing benefit and council tax reduction.

You can find a range of additional useful pointers on our Coronavirus, ‘Your Money’ web page.

Morning Everyone!

Good Morning Everyone!! ☀😎

It’s Thursday which means we’ll be clapping our NHS and key workers later tonight 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
They really are heroes and deserve all our appreciation so be sure to clap and cheer as loud as you can! 💙🌈

Here is a task to consider doing today or later!
Take some time to look at the image  –

– Think about what it’s trying to tell you? (Why/What)
– What impact does it have on you? (How)

Using the image as your inspiration you could try to:-

– write a hero themed story
– create a poem based on our NHS and key workers
– design a poster with a similar theme

As always we would love you to share you work and ideas. So please take a picture and put it on your glow page.  We’ll try to feature some of them on the blog.

Take care, stay safe and have a wonderful day!
