S3 Mock Election

As part of their Democracy Unit, Miss Donnelly’s S3 Modern Studies Class held a Mock Election.

Each group represented one of the main political parties in the UK and picked a candidate to stand for election.

The groups also created a manifesto which they handed out and campaigned for their candidate.

The pupils then took part in a vote using a ballot paper with the winner of 3D’s election being announced as Lee Bolton of the Liberal Democrats!

Well Done 3D Modern Studies!

North Lanarkshire WW1 Shellshock Project

Our S3 History classes are currently taking part in North Lanarkshire’s Shellshock project to help commemorate World War 1.

The pupils were visited this week by Dave, Gillian and Emma from Summerlee who introduced them to World War One and the idea of Shellshock.

The pupils got the chance to handle artefacts from World War One and learn about the conditions in the Trenches and the effects this had on the mental health of Soldiers during the war.
