Monday 22nd June

Its the last week before the summer holidays already! Just 2 and a half days of home school left, you have made it!

This week we ask you to  continue to revise and practise of  all your learning and skills in literacy.   See below for everything you should be confident and independent with.

Spelling up to the end of term

For the last few weeks of term we are going to focus on making sure you are really confident with all the sounds and common words you have learned so far this year.

Sounds

Sunflowers, Daisies and Butercups – Can you write at least 3 words for each sound?

Poppies – Continue to concentrate on 3 lettered words and sounding out.  Work through the words in the link below for the next few weeks.  Read a 3 letter word out to your child and ask  them to make up then write a simple sentence for it.

Good morning P3/2.  Can you believe we’ve come to the end of another week?  Here are today’s learning tasks:

Maths – Length

The length of something is how long it is from one end to the other.

Watch these clips about measuring lengths of things using the non standard units of  hand spans

 

Task

Use your hand and foot spans spans to measure these items.  If you don’t have an item at home, measure something else.

Literacy – Plurals

When there is one of anything we say it is singular but when there are more than one we call it plural.

Sun Safety

The month of June is officially the first month of summer.  The sun can be hot some days and we need to be careful not to get sunburn. Today we are going to learn about how to stay safe in the sun.

Warm Up

Watch this clip to remind you of the 5 main things to remember to keep yourself safe in the sun.

 

 

Main Task

Draw a beach bag like the one below.  Draw and label all the things you need to put in it to keep yourself safe in the sun when you go outdoors in sunny weather.  Remember you need at least 5 things. Colour it in with pens and pencils.

Challenge

Can you create a pair of fun sunglasses that protect your eyes from the sun and fit on your face? Here are a few ideas or use your creative skills and design your own.

FUN Printing!

Why not try out some cool printing art using paint and used kitchen paper rolls? Be as creative as you can and have fun! Act of kindness: why not take a picture of your lovely art and email or message it to a loved one that you’re missing ? It will make them smile and brighten their day!

Well, I can quite believe we’ve made it to JUNE! Well done for being so strong and keeping safe with your families for this long! It’s going to  be another beautiful couple of days so try to take some of your learning outside…read in the shade, record your work in chalk on the ground etc…
