Primary 5 active and engaged during their learning

Today in class we were learning more about our Scotland topic. We were looking at where Scotland is in the world using a globe and we looked at countries which were near us and far away from us. Some children spoke about places they had visited in the UK and abroad, and we looked at where these places were on the globe.

The boys and girls then used an atlas to locate places in the UK, to locate some cities in the UK and then to find where Wishaw was! They all managed these tasks and were engaged and active in their learning.

We discussed what a boundary was and found out where the boundary was between Scotland and England. Primary 5 were later asked to name some Scottish Cities and then were challenged to use their atlas to find 7 cities in Scotland and locate them on a blank map. Everyone in class had success with this and found it fun using their prior learning to help them.

Have a look at our photos showing us involved in our learning!

Primary 3/4L Update 2/9/16!

September 2, 2016 by Mr MacLeod | 0 comments

Hi everyone!  We have had a fantastic, brilliant, great week!  We are getting on really well as a class and are really becoming very good friends!  We are all really happy, even Mrs. McAteer, Mrs. Reid and Mr. MacLeod!

We have been doing lots of number work this week using numicon to work on our addition and subtraction, and numbers before and after.  We have also been putting numbers in order up to 100.  Our number jobs are lots of fun.

We have also been reading Jack and the Beanstalk.  The Giant is really scary and terrifies the children!  Just hearing “FEE FI FO FUM” is enough to scare the whole class!  We still managed to retell the story in our own words though.

We have done lots of jobs this week to help us with our listening skills including eye spy activities, and playing whispers.  In the gym hall we have also been focusing on our listening skills, by repeating back instructions for our relay races.

We have really enjoyed watching and joining in with Jump Start Jonny videos – they are awesome and help energize us in the afternoon.  If you want to do them at home, here’s the link:

Hope everyone has a good weekend and we’ll post another update at the end of next week!

Bye!
