Down on the Farm

This morning Primary 5/6/7 LCSC and Primary 7 visited Overton Farm. John, one of the farmers took us on a tour of his farm, describing all the different ares and jobs that went on in each. Some of us did not enjoy the smells we came across on the Farm, particularly in the cow shed! John grows crops on his farm, has hens laying eggs, as well as rearing beef cattle. The potatoes that are grown are sold in the shop or used in the cafe. The potatoes that are not suitable for sale are not wasted, however, they are given to the cows to eat. The farm has its own butchery, where we saw some of the butchers cutting the meat which again is then either sold in th farm shop or used in the cafe. Overton is a very busy farm!
