Egyptian writing!

Yesterday afternoon Primary 3 used tea bags soaked in water to create Ancient Egyptian looking papyrus. Papyrus was what people in Egypt used to write on thousands of years ago. We have been learning about the Ancient Egyptian writing system and looking at some of the hieroglyphs used for each different letter of the alphabet. Our paper had dried overnight which allowed us to have a go at writing our own name this afternoon, carefully copying the hieroglyphs from Ancient Egyptian times. Some symbols were trickier than others!! Here are some photos of us in action:
