For our Science experiment this week, we combined only 2 ingredients to create a volcanic eruption. This potion was simple, we put a packet of mentos into a bottle of cola. We carried out this experiment on 2 separate occasions. During our first try of making this potion we used ordinary cola and emptied the mentos from the packet into the bottle. The reaction that resulted was the fizzy juice erupted from the bottle. We decided to test this experiment again as we couldn’t get the mentos from the packet into the bottle quickly enough and they ended up all over the ground! So this time we put the mentos into a cylinder and removed the ruler from the end of they cylinder so the mints would just drop in. We also wanted to try using diet cola to see if it reacted better with the mentos. The videos below are our second attempt at the experiment.
