This week Primary Seven enjoyed learning about a writer and artist from Texas, Austin Kleon. He creates poetry from articles in the New York Times. After reading some of his work and learning about the process of blackout poetry, the children were inspired to create their own version. They used an extract from ‘The Wizard of Oz’ and selected emotive language that would tell a story with a war theme. The finished poems were simply amazing; 27 unique poems created from one piece of text. Well done Primary Seven!
