Library Lockdown List

Welcome to the Lockdown List!

First of all, don’t panic, this is absolutely NOT a list of everything you should be doing. There are certainly resources you can use for learning at home, but there’s also opportunities to help you to sit back and relax for a while, like theatre performances, concerts, storytelling and lots of things to explore and have fun with.

Secondly, don’t try to look through everything. This is a long list and still growing. Use the Lockdown List Headings on the left hand side to guide you to things that seem interesting. I’ve tried to make sure everything on this list is FREE, so if you get asked for money, step away!

Thirdly, everyone appreciates that this is a difficult time:

  • you cannot do everything suggested on Facebook, or Instagram, or any other online whirlwind of activity;
  • we know technology can be frustrating;
  • take some time for yourself everyday to relax;
  • go outside for a walk if you can – it’s good for your wellbeing;
  • just do the best you can, and ask for help if you need it.

We’ll all see each other again when it’s safe. In the meantime, take care, wash your hands, and learn how far apart is 2 metres ๐Ÿ™‚

Education Scotland newsletter

Education Scotland have produced a Parents and Carers newsletter called Scotland Learns.

Each week, we will publish ideas, hints and tips for parents,
including learning activities that your child can complete on
their own or that families can do together, a selection of these
are included in this newsletter. You wonโ€™t need lots of
resources and the tasks are designed to encourage children
and young people’s creativity. We appreciate that many
parents are also working from home, so lots of activities are
designed so that children can work independently once a
parent has gone over the activity with them.

The first issue includes:

  • Suggested learning activities for literacy and numeracy
  • Ideas to support wellbeing
  • Activities focused on staying safe online
  • Hints and tips for supporting your child to learn at home
  • Advice for engaging young people with autism in their learning

Parents and carers can sign up for further issues
